I'd be embarassed to be challenging for the MW title at 157lb, and I'd be embarassed defending it at 157lb.

I'm surprised The Ring belt management didn't step up and say this fight has to have a maximum weight clause of 160lb in order for us to sanction it for the World MW Title.
I agree with that but then the fight would of never happened. Williams is not really a 160lb fighter, Martinez might be, but I'm not sure he is either. At the end of the day there has to be a little bit of bending in order to get the real big fights we want to see happen.

It probably shouldn't be for the middleweight championship of the world but if that wasn't thrown in the pot then Williams would of probably said *** it and fought someone else. With that said, Martinez should be highly praised for taking the fight(which he is), but in no way should Williams be discredited if he wins the fight(which I think he will be).

I agree with that too. Very true. I would be 100% happy with this fight if there was no MW title on the line.

That's why I am bitter. If Williams wants that title, he should have to challenge for it the right way. Like he was going to do against Kelly Pavlik and that's what made me damn impressed with him in the first place.

Like Martinez did against Pavlik too.

I think it's only for the wbc mw belt. If they were fighting at 160, all the belts would be at stake

I think Martinez just wants to beat him. If he crushes Williams, we will be done with this created monster for good and Martinez can rule supreme

The Ring have sanctioned it for their belt also. Most people regard that as the lineal belt. Well actually I go by the trail of Hopkins being undisputed, and then Taylor, Pavlik to Martinez. So even if the WBC belt was the only belt on the line, we are made to assume that this is a MW fight where Martinez holds that lineal crown.

We can't say that this is the MW title fight for the WBC belt only and not for the lineal, if you know what I mean. If that was the case then if Williams wins, Martinez would still be lineal champ in that regard.

What does that mean for us confused fans then, do we acknowledge Williams as the lineal champ if he beats Martinez?
