Williams asked for the fight to be at 157lb catchweight.

not sure but if he asks for a catchweight it surely will be for the titles.

Pwill wants to stay at 147. Pwill have no business at 160 (though theres no foes at 147 and 154 for right NOW lol)

Pac-Tony is also for a title at a catchweight u know

          Yeah. Disgusting.

I don't mind fighters requesting the bigger guy to come down in weight to meet them. I guess it has to be done sometimes to help make some interesting match-ups.

But when the fighter starts expecting the Champion to have his title on the line that is bull****.

So if the lineal MW Championship is on the line and Williams wins, then we will have a MW Champion who won the belt outside of MW.

          Disgusting.

It doesn't bother me so much with the Pac Marg fight as that is just for a piece of trash, trinket.

          Martinez holds the real title.

Well middleweight is defined as being above 154-160. But people needs to let this go since Sergio has no problem fighting at and requesting catchweight(he asked Angulo to fight at 155 for the MW titles)

So if both fighters agree to it, then i have no problem with it

Well I always look at it as that in MW the fighters should not exceed 160lb. So if you are to fight for or defend a MW belt, you should be able to hit 160lb if you so choose. The option is yours.

Catchweight eliminates that choice, lowering the bracket. So Williams is basically saying yes we'll fight for the title, but you can't go up to 160lb (which is against the ruling of the MW limitations). I hate when people alter rules like that.

I hear what you are saying about both fighters being content with it. As you say, Sergio is content with playing the same game.

Sergio might be cool with it, but I'm not. I expect more from the MW Champions.

I'm sure there's prob countless more examples of this happening throughout the sport, but I'm not happy. If you want these titles, then don't put limitations on the champions. And if you're a champion, get your act together.

I guess it doesn't matter that much and people will wonder why make all the fuss, but I like tradition. We've already lost too much of it.

I just see it as a limit, meaning you cant go over, just like a speed limit. The commision doesnt care what weight you are as long as you are in the division limit.

I certainly see your point and I agree with it.

I guess given how ***ed up things are in our sport right now we just have to be content with fights like this getting made, whatever the consequences.
