Both were used! Google it, and watch the documentary on it. I watched the documentary on the case and both were used. They removed the padding and they used plaster of paris! And why would you spread that lie around when you don't know the facts? Watch the god damn documentary man... I dislike people like you who don't spread the facts around.

I've brought up all those fights. I think he has been doing it for awhile, he had Williams hurt with body-shots late in their fight.

But we still would never know! I was at the Margarito-Williams fight and no one would think something like that was happening...

whos face isn't going to look like that if someone lands all those punches? margarito landed a lot....look at the pacquiao/cotto fight,cotto's face looks worse in that one,so was manny doing something wrong?

My thoughts:
1) Cotto had been hit a lot before - he participated in lots of wars in JWW and WW, but his face have never looked so awful, like in Margarito fight.
2) Margarito is not a big puncher. He doesn`t have a one punch knock out power, nor does he have a heavy punch.
3) (not to you particularly) NEVER believe Compu Box... I don`t know who is counting the numbers there, but that system is an absolute mess. Very often it doesn`t reflect the picture of the fight. The main minus of that system is that it differentiates only jabs and power punches. The punch that just touched the face and the punch which snapped opponents head back - both of punches would be a "punch landed". The decent right hand to the head and Wladimirs` right bomb which sends opponent to sleep - both are just "power punches landed"...
4) Cotto is very damaged after Margarito fight. If there is a fighter whos` body can hardly take a shot it is Cotto. Plaster or not he absorbed a lot of damage in that fight. You can see how his skin reacts to damage after that fight. Clottey, not a big puncher, managed to cut him, and Cottos` face was quite swollen in the end. Pacquaio messed his face up too... What I`m trying to say is that Cottos` punching resistance was gone after the Margarito fight.

I cannot accuse Margarito for using illegal hand wraps in the Cotto fight. I just don`t know if he did. But taking to consideration everything I`ve heard about this story I will always believe he cheated in that fight.... and he pretty much could do it many fights before...

All i can say is Cotto has a great heart and determination. I personally believe that Margarito's gloves were loaded but no matter how much punishment Cotto was taking, he withstand it till the 11th round. Respect to Cotto.

valid and excellent points, a partially landed punch and a flush punch are counted the same in compubox. plus, sometimes punches are counted that didnt land or not counted that landed. the system is not 100%
cotto has never been the same from that beating, and if u watch the fight you can see how he physically wilts after the first half of the fight, in which he was winning.
