If Margarito's gloves were actually full of cement, I have a real hard time seeing how Cotto would survive a round where he gets hit with about 50 punches.
...especially when a lot of those shots were clean left uppercuts.
Watch the fight again, Margaritto didn't land flush alot most of his punches were blocked by Cottos gloves or glancing blows, if his hands weren't loaded you wouldn't of seen as much danmage as we did to Cotto. A blind man could see that

My goodness, over and over again this discussion. Cotto moved backwards the entire fight, even when he was winning. He ran out of gas because Margs chased him nonstop and did not fear his power. Those of you saying that Miguel started to give in the second half of the fight are correct, he gave just like he did against Mosley and Clottey the other fighters who didn't wilt. They just didn't caution to the wind like Margs did that night. The sad thing is that Margs still probably took a worse beating on that night. People say Cotto was ruined that night, but I counter by saying that Tony was ruined that night. The type of beating he took in order to beat Miguel takes years off your life and often times leaves fighters shot. So why you ask did Capetillo try to load the gloves against an underdog? Maybe Javier knew that Tony no longer had it. I recently rewatched that fight and truly believe that Mosley had an awesome gameplan which he executed to perfection, and Tony was not there mentally. Mosley led and tied up everytime Tony was going to counter, and Javier who was probably gone mentally never helped Tony adjust to the type of fight which he was facing. I love watching Tony, Miguel, and even Mosley fight, but the difference between these fighters was not plaster; the difference boils down to clinching by Mosley and lack of clinching by Cotto (Hispanic fighters rarely clinch unless they are hurt *sometimes not even then*).
