Best method to defeat Tarver is throw next to NOTHING in the first half and let Tarver come to you and punch himself and pour all of your energy in the later rounds. Out of all of the Tarver fights I have seen this strategy will work, he isnt able to deal with fighters late in a fight. If Roy could throw hard combinations in the late rounds he stands a possible chance of stopping Tarver. But he has to fight like a cheetah and run and conserve his energy in the first part of the fight.
Yeah thats sounds like a good strategy. Hey people are saying Roy is basically going to get killed and has no chance... do you think people overdoing just a little bit. I mean Roy can fight its not like he is going to have a hand tied behind his back. Any man with two hands has a chance of winning a fight.

I think you are 100% right, the style Roy will use will make for one hell of an ugly fight too watch.

Now I will say this before and after the fight....Tarver and Johnson are both average fighters, I dont think Roy lost his title to great fighters or even really good fighters, I think he lost to a couple of pretty good fighters and that wont change if he wins, loses or whatever.

Never been impressed with Tarver and Johnson fights like an amatuer...there is a reason why he has a ton of losses. I dont believe Jones could beat a guy like Johnson though because Glenn is a volume puncher, Jones does not want to fight a guy where he has too face 50, 60, 70 punches a round-he wants a guy like Tarver who gets lazy...if Tarver throws a ton of punches like he did against Jonhnson the second time Jones will have a tough time.

I would love to see Roy go for the ko, I might even root for him if he does that...

        but...

I dont think Roy is taking any chances like that, he has seen himself flattened on video tape a zillion times by now and if he was not willing to commit before I cant seeing him doing it now after being brutally iced twice.

Roy will fight to win and he will take zero chances because he has to have shaky feelings deep down about taking punishment.

          hmm

Scap obviously knows very little about Glen Johnson. Johnson was robbed in several of his fights vs top contenders, has been a good fighter for a while now, and Tarver is one of the best amatuers of all time and also a very good pro. Not great, but good.

Good fighters can be once great fighters when those fighters get old. But maybe Roy has one good fight left in him. We will see. The ****'s on, so you can't stop it now.

Roy gets respect for taking this fight. Should anyway.

If Tarver throws punches like that against Jones it could be easy for Jones. I mean Jones doesnt have to have his superior reflexes to get out of a way of a shot. All he has to do is keep his hands up and grab when Tarver gets mean and starts throwing or simply back up. Tarver has mediocre footwork so Roy just has to keep a distance between the two and NOT go inside.

What Roy needs to do is keep a distance and NEVER go in. When Tarver throws a punch back up and come in and feint. Tarver will automatically throw his hands up. When Tarver throws his hands up Roy has 2 options.

            Option 1: Hit the body
            Option 2: Hit the arms

Do either option in the first half and Tarver will be EXHAUSTED! now in rounds 7-12 Jones still needs to keep the distance but when Tarver lets his guard down instead of using the technique that got him tired go in and throw those infamous combinations followed by the Roy Jones left hook.

Use this strategy and the fight will be a lock! Guaranteed win for a Roy Jones victory.

Tarver is 1 of the best amatuers of all time...I think you are using some pretty lose language there, he was a good amatuer but one of the best of all time...wow-you are a praise whore.

Johnson is a pretty good fighter that is it, he has a great workrate but I could give a **** if he thinks he was robbed in some fights in the past, the facts are that he has double digit losses and many/most of them are against second rate average fighters. Who did Glenn Johnson beat pre-Jones? He fought a guy in Jones who went into the ring not wanting to fight, there were a lot of guys that would have beat Jones that night, **** Jones thru no punches. His win against Tarver is a win that almost no one had him earning-it was close but most if not all people watching had Johnson losing-so he is not always on the other end.

Tarver one of the best amatuers of all time...no

Glenn Johnson, a pretty good fighter who has lost to a lot of average fighters...he is nothing special.

Im picking Jones via boring unanimous decision, Roy should never ever leave the center of the ring and I think he will stick to that and give us $50 borefest that I will gladly pay for. Im not high on Roy I just dont think much of Tarver.

I don't care how Roy wins I just hope he wins...Win, lose or draw it should be his last fight in my opinion.

The problem Roy Jones Junior isn't gonna get the respect he wants is because it's -

                      TOO LITTLE TOO LATE!

If he ever really wanted the recoginition of being a great, he should have stepped up to the plate 10yrs ago.

In my eyes, he'll always be known as a "if only" fighter... I mean there's no doubting his talent, but he's always seemed to come across as the fighter that didn't want to take on a tough challenge.

I would class Roy Jones Junior as one of boxing's tragedy's (like a Shakespeare play!... LOL!..)... Coz' the worst thing is, he probably could have beaten the best in each weight class if he hadn't avoided them! But you can't define a fighter as a great based on "what if's", and "if only's".
