Comments Thread For: Schaefer: Khan-Maidana Nearly Finalized For Las Vegas

According to Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer, a deal is nearly complete for Amir Khan (23-1, 17KOs) to defend his WBA junior welterweight title against Marcos Maidana (29-1, 27KOs) on HBO-televised date of December 11, likely at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. If the deal is finalized in the next few days, the WBA's mandatory purse bid on September 21 will be canceled.

gotta criticize Golden Boy for going against it's own fighter, Abner Mares, in the biggest fight of his career to date on the same date Dec 11

              that's truely weak if true

Exactly. With the way boxing has been lately i'll believe it when I see Khan and Maidana at the press conference to announce the fight. That might not even be enough though, i'll believe it when Michael Buffer is doing the announcements in the ring.
