Let's not get carried away here.

Manny has erred too, albeit not as disastrously as Floyd Jr.

I will agree that too much gets blamed on a person's childhood
and environment. You can give a child every advantage in the
world, and yet will still go astray. Lots of triumphs against all
manner of childhood adversity to cite, too.

Floyd made his choices, same as Manny. While a lot of others
can take a little credit or blame for some of what these two
boxers have accomplished or failed to do, ultimately both Manny
and Floyd are the ones responsible for what they do as adults.

You act like you went to Elementary, Middle, and Highschool with Floyd and Pacquiao. (Not Pacquiao)

When in reality you don't know ****.

His dad went to jail when he was young.

The streets of Grand Rapids Michigan, Royalty? Hmm...

Leonard Ellerbe confirmed he dropped out of high school to help her mother out.

Leonard Ellerbe has made lies too often to be believed.

I always kind of wondered this about Floyd, what kind of economic background he was from because his dad was a notable fighter but not a huge star.

What kind of money does a guy like that make you think?

Would it be fair to say Floyd grew up middle class?

It still doesn't matter within the iffy context of this particular thread,
which in part contrasts Pacquiao's childhood environment to Floyd's.
Even a lower middle-class environment by U.S. standards would hold
very significant advantages over a poverty-stricken environment in
                    the Philippines:

In certain ways, from a Philippine-scale poverty POV, Floyd might as
well have grown up like royalty.

It's still bollocks, though, to try to pin adult behavior such as we've seen
from both fighters, on their childhood environments.

floyd didn't live in middle class. also theres no such thing as "lower" middle class in grand rapids. lower middle class is slums.

floyds mother was on drugs. his father was a drug dealer & a hard head. he was also extremely abusive to "lil" floyd. when lil floyd was a baby, a few guys almost killed floyd sr......they did a "drive by" on floyd sr. sr held up lil floyd as a shield to block the bullets that were coming his way. luckly lil floyd wasn't shot. the guys that were doing the shooting had some what of a heart as they aimed downward @ floyd sr. legs instead....

floyd watched his father beat his mother almost to death on a regular.

lil floyds daily diet consisted of bologna sandwiches & roman noodles. he was very skinny.

he was a poor kid in a very broken home....

                      stop the lies....
