That's how he fights. Yes, it does leave him open, but it's just how he fights. He is too experienced and entrenched in his ways to change that.

He's too young to change it, he's world champ already at a young age without a huge amount of fights and on a big winning streak. Right now he probably thinks he's doing fine he will have loads of confidence.

He does need to change it but he is too young and naive to realise it, so i reckon he will have to lose first before he changes it up.

Saying that though it will be hard to find someone who can beat him because he is a beast of a fighter on his day, maybe Juanma can do it but i can't think of many others.

Keeping your hands down is poor defense anyway you slice it.

There were several times you could hear his corner yelling to keep his hands up. His keeping his hands at his sides indicated he didn't feel threatened by Salido's offense. His reflexes and movement were able to keep from being hit solidly enough to put him in danger.

He does need to tighten it up for the likes of Juanma and much more solid opposition.

He is getting knocked out soon. Victor Cayo did the same against Maidana and got stopped and i see the same with Gamboa unless someone gets that defence sorted.

Forget about what y'all percieve is a lack of skill, even after Salido wore him down to the body during the early and middle rounds and had him slow down he still came back to clearly win the last 3rd of the fight.

Just those attributes make him a nightmare for anyone under 130. If he learns how to counter punch and setup his offense better, he'll be top 3 P4P for years to come. If he doesn't he'll still be close to the top of any division he goes to and still P4P 10 for years to come.

If that was anywhere near a prime version of Salido like the one who fought Guerrero or Marquez years ago, I would've had no problem picking him to win.

Gamboa is not what you think he is. The minute he steps up to anyone decent with some youth and some pop, he's done.

Another hbo hypejob. Don't fight me on this either, I am the best at picking out hbo hypejobs. I'm never wrong.

HBO Hypejobs are occasionally very good, though.

every fighter fails. just cause he's got alot of tools doesn't mean he's going reach his full potential. this what separates legitimately great fighters from good and ok fighters.

The only thing that impresses me is his speed/quickness and combinations. Any fighter who keeps his hand down will eventually run into someone who'll expose that. Though Gamboa has great attributes and skill, fighting with his hands down is going to get him beat.

I DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE. The man squares himself up way too much when he throws. On top of that, his hooks are often wide and wild. Don't even get me started on his defense. When you have that much of a speed advantage over a guy, like he did against Salido, you shouldn't be getting hit! PERIOD!
