Who has Richardson brought along from the start? Bouie Fisher was Hopkins real trainer.

Richardson seem like a an excellent trainer, but a lot of that seems to come from his little sayings, he has that wise old personality, its also worth remembering, that Hopkins is a vet, a guy who could have you or me in his corner, and he would still be able to adapt in the ring, simply because he has been doing it for so long, he knows that game inside out.

roach is good but hes no eddy futch or angelo dundee

most of the guys hes worked with didnt have great trainers or left their great trainers when already being established fighters

amir khan wasnt progressing and was allowed to get lazy due to his natural gifts, chavez jr was used to being lazy and got drilled hard by roach
jose benavidez was already a very good amateur fighter as was rigondeaux
matirosyan is a prospect trained by roach and has shown to be limited already (watch the ouma fight)

Roach only build one fighter from scratch and thats Pac. The rest of those fighters named in this thread were already established. But he is a good strategist as said earlier but the best right now nah.

Kevin Cunningham brought 2 fighters from scratch from amateurs to pro's that won titles.
        Cory Spinks
Devon Alexander(yeah I know he got a gift last fight)

        Kevin barely gets any recognition.

          A little bit.

He's clearly an excellent trainer, but I remember when Khan and then JCC Jr started working with him, some people suddenly started believing that they'd be great fighters because of it. People sometimes forget that Roach has trained fighters who've failed to succeed on several occassions. The same is true of every trainer, of course, but I guess my point is that he's not a miracle worker like some believe.

Roger is probably the worst of the bunch.

Who has he got besides Floyd Jr.? Even then, Sr. brought Jr. up and taught him everything he knows, not Roger.

At least Sr. had De La Hoya.

Roger is riding on Floyd and he didn't even train Floyd.

Floyd probably doesn't even need Roger for anything other than Morale support.

We all know Floyd trains himself anyway.

I still think Nacho Beristain is a better trainer. Just my 2c.

I think u dont understand the concept of having a coach.

You might have a foundation and set of skills and a way of doing things. But your coach can always improve those things. He can teach you tricks , plus , when ur busy staying or getting into fighting shape , he might be looking for a strategy , for weaknesses , for things you can capitalize on.

Yes the fighter is the one that has to get the job done , but its a team.

I bet you if Pac would have never trained with Roach , he would have never done the things he has done.

Maybe. I'm sick of him for some reason. I saw him at the GG gym in Vegas when he was starting out with Hill. I remember the night Hill won the title. Then there was a banquet. I was there because a friend of mine was being trained by Futch. Roach is a good trainer. At last nights fight I was hoping that Cortez would have a heart attack and fall on Roach and kill them both.

I've never trained under Freddie to compare him to other coaches. Roach said it himself that he doesn't have a wife, no kids. Just boxing. He lives, breathes, studies, teaches...boxing. The way he manages his gym and time with all his fighters. He'll probably win his fifth Boxing Trainer of the Year Award.
