Yes Charles Burley is one of the guys I am talking about, and Sam Langford was the other.

However, you must realized that at Burley time there was only one title. It is quite hard to win a title when there is only one. Hell if there was only one now Marg would never had won a title.

Also champs refused to give Burley a shot for the title, one reason was cuz of his race the other was cuz he was too good and not a big enough draw. Sounds familiar? Rumors even had it that Sugar Ray Robinson ducked Burley. Robinson was at ringside for one of Burley fights and said something to the effect of Burley just being to good that he won't fight him or something like that don't know the exact quote.

Burley said that if he was in Robinson shoes he wouldn't had fought him either. Since it was a high risk/low reward type of fight. But, famous trainers like Eddie Futch and others have said Burley is the best boxer they have ever seen including SRR.

Honestly, those were different circumstances that doesn't make it a fair comparison or analogy. Maybe your point would of been valid if Burley had once giving an opportuniy to fight for a World title. But, since he was too damn good and worse he was black that opportunity shamefully never came. But, yes he is an ATG.

Yes sir. Charles Burley to be exact. He got his ass whipped by Archie if I remember correct.

Actually Burley dominated Moore dropped him 3 times and damn near shut him out in a 10 round fight.

Seen just one of his MW fights against Oakland Billy Smith. There is no WW footage where he was by all accounts a beast.

And, there was only one title at that time. It wasn't like now where there are 4 major titles. And, It is pretty hard to win a title if you never giving a chance to fight for one. What baffles me is that you don't understand that concept.

Plus the title doesn't make the fighter, the fighter makes the title. You know if he is great by his resume. Look at the names that he beat, how many wins over HOF'ers that he has. So there is no question about his greatness.

And, as much as I like Margarito. No there is not case for him being in the top 25 all time WWs. That is ridiculous. The WW limit has a rich tradition is one of the 8 original weight-classes. Too many ATG's has fought and build a hell of a resume at that weight. Marg doesn't compare he is not even in the top 30.

I do understand the concept but it's just to me that sometimes old timers get way more credit than what it's really worth.

Like I said "MAY", it all depends on how you look at things. As for me, that's the reason why I don't know, cause I have to sit down and see all the great, hof, etc., type of boxers to do my analysis.

Yea I think I might of went a bit overboard, maybe a win over pac and floyd would put him top 20 ATG maybe if tony wins by pure domination he can crack 15. Like you said haters gunna hate
