No way Burns beat an average Martinez tonight.

He fights guys with 80% ko ratio and makes them look feather fisted.

Tonight he fought a guy with a 30% ko ratio and made him look like Marquez.

    A rematch needs to happen.

Just take the loss and STFU!!

Im just saying a rematch needs to happen no need to get jealous, or are you just realizing Burns will get crushed in the rematch?

Both fighters were hurt, including burns who got up. Both fighters elevated the sport of boxing by showing determination and will. Yet people will bring hate to say this or that. Martinez even though he is champion was willing to fight a challenger thousands of miles away from home, if the fight is in PR, he will would have retained his title. The fight was very close, but i will say Burns did win the last two rounds, and gave him the victory at the end.

I need to watch the entire fight again to determine who won, as Round 6 the stream got a bit choppy. But both fighters got saved by the bell on a few occassions.

It definetely is a good win for British boxing. A real shot in the arm.

Most of the guys we are pinning hopes on like: Degale, Groves, Gavin, Cleverly etc are well of world-level, and with Kevin Mitchell getting smashed; I was struggling to see where a next world champ was coming from. Even if it may turn out to only be a brief reign. Burns has done it now. He's made it.

what makes you so certain? a frankly weak puncher in burns had martinez all over the place , when martinez had burns hurt he couldn't finish him

pr will have its day again (and again....and again) , let the scots and brits enjoy the victory

Awesome fight.. Only the 3rd time I've seen Burns fight but tonight he was immense. He came in to the fight with the right game plan and executed it..

Martinez was sloppy and looked a bit drained. He caught Burns clean a few times but his punching power wasn't quite the same as in the past, gotta give credit to Burns for his chin and durability though!

Martinez doesn't deserve a rematch, Burns outboxed him. Burns created the blueprint to beat him and I can't see Martinez winning a rematch, he has a punchers chance though.

Martinez needs to move up to Lightweight. Burns was excellent tonight and should look for one or two standard defenses to put a bit of money in the bank before chasing the big fights/unifications. He's the champion now and deservedly so!

                  Great show Burns!

I watched the fight and.... i don't like to use this word but honestly Martinez looked like a bum. He's very slow, only threw one punch at a time, his defense sucks and he's always off balance. He hurt Burns like 4 times in the fight and Burns was ready to go, but he got wild with his punches and instead of throwing fast combinations only threw one punch at a time and let him survive.

I thought Rocky was improving his technique but guess i was wrong. And Burns sucks too.
