That wasn't until he got beat up by Feroz that he went back the Ghana and built Hospitals and ****.

He certainly should have been able to find some winnable fights (since he was known to HBO even before the Osacr fight) comming off a very close loss to Oscar.

Oscar helps to get fighters on the path, but it is up to the fighter both what they do leading up to, during and after. Floyd took advantage of the lead up Manny took advantage of the during while they both did the after.

Lol great question but no one will answer that. He already sells what a cross over boxing star is supposed to sell.

      • How much more crossover can the guy be? He is a talked about more than Oscar, and does better numbers than Oscar was doing. People forget that 1 million buys for ppvs are RARE in boxing. Oscar has done very low numbers against many of his opponents, while Floyd is churning out 850,000-1.4 million buys against anyone. Floyd has crossed over more than any fighter in the sport, since Ali. Just cause you don't like his attitude and the sort doesn't mean he hasn't crossed. Being the way he is has allowed him to do so and his latest video just created more buzz. Sergio Martinez is a complete unknown but if Floyd fought him it does over a million, if those numbers aren't crossover I don't know what is.

        • People are acting like oscar had SO many endorsements. Who? Puma? Floyd has a 15 foot cardboard poster in the front window of foot locker. You can't get much more mainstream in boxing man. Your comparing him to tiger and shaq but not even a small fraction of the people who watch those sports even know anything about boxing. Boxing is not mainstream period. Att reebok dwts wwe a boxer can't do much better than that to be honest. It is what it is. And he got that popular from the bad
boy image. He got shafted by arum for being the nice guy. I agree that the latest rant is overboard but you can't say he'd be more mainstream as a fighter by being the nice guy.

If Sugar ray Leonard was in his prime in todays day and age, he would be bigger than even DLH was because of who he was.

It's one thing to play the "bad guy" but that will only carry you so far. When American embraces someone, it's always someone wearing a white hat, believe that.
Thats what I always say. For some reason the posters on this site think Floyd Mayweather is up there with the Drew Brees', Lebron James, Kobe Bryant, or Alex Rodriguez when in fact alls he really is is the most recognizable boxing name right now. People know his name and every once in a while they will see something about him but aside from that he is completely irrelevant.

              • Im kinda glad Mayweather has done what he has, cause it will only further tarnish his legacy.

Media pundits/fans are the people who have a monopoly on where your placed historically, not a small pocket of *****'s, plus, a historian is much more likely to bump a guy up a few places, if its someone they have an affection for, or respect as a man, personality-wise, which is why most historians will probably step Mayweather down a few places, which i find quite fitting, particularly considering what a piece crap human being he is, not to mention a con-man who was a cherry picker.

He also gave that same reason of why he isn't the most popular sports star in America. Which is kind of idiotic when you think about it because the biggest sports star in America every single year Are black....

Floyd is a product of his upbringing, imagine being raised by Floyd Sr. and his uncle Roger? I mean there's a reason this dude is so mentally ***ed up and is so emotionally unstable.

When I watched the 24/7 between him and DLH, I noticed something that very few probably noticed. While Mayweather was walking around with 50K in cash in his pocket and a watch and chain that were worth 1 million dollars, DLH was walking around in jeans and a polo shirt with a leather wrist band watch.

It was amazing to me how the kid from the REAL hood (DLH) was walking around more humble than the supposedly hood kid in Mayweather who in reality was raised most of his life in Michigan suburbs....

This latest rant about Pacquaio is the classic example of why America has never embraced him and why he's not a cross over success like DLH, Tiger Woods, Shaq etc. He shows no class and no respect towards others while simultaneously screaming about how nobody respects him.

To those of you that say he's "Keeping it real" all you are doing is perpetuating the ignorant stereotype that young black kids like Mayweather give off to the rest of the world and then wonder why nobody takes them seriously. The sad thing is, millions of young kids see this and emulate it and think that's being "real" or what a real tough guy should act like. When in actuality it takes more of a man to come from where Pacquaio comes from, smile all the time and take care of his own people and the people around him the way he does.

Like I have said before, Floyd is an amazing fighter, his skills and work ethic cannot be denied but him as a person leaves a lot to be desired. He's classless like his father and uncle before him. It was JCC who shut his uncles mouth and hopefully Pac can shut the huge mouth of Mayweather.
You're absolutely right. However, his outburst is as much tactical. Beating a potential focused Pacman who follows Roach's gameplan vs. facing a frustrated pacman that hunts the KO all night, being open for the counter.. I think in part that's why. Also he's trying to provoke a fight.

                    Legacy doesnt pay bills.

When alls said and done people will rank Mayweather 2nd to only Ali.
