i understand your point about how economically african-american fighters in the lower divisions don't draw as well as the latinos or even asians.

but pacquiao didn't really have any top african-american fighters to fight from 2001-2008 when he was campaigning at 122-130.

ring magazine annual rankings super bantamweight to junior lightweight top 10 rankings from 2001-2008.

2001 super bantamweight rankings = 0 african american fighters
2002 super bantamweight rankings = 0 african american fighters
2003 super bantamweight rankings = 0 african american fighters
2004 featherweight rankings = 1 african american fighter
2005 junior lightweight rankings = 0 african american fighters
2006 junior lightweight rankings = 0 african american fighters
2007 junior lightweight rankings = 0 african american fighters
2008 junior lightweight rankings = 0 african american fighters

the 1 guy who was ranked in the top 10 was zahir raheem at 126 in 2004.

he wasn't that high on the list and he also had a lost in 2004 to rocky juarez.

there just wasn't much african american fighters around in the divisions pacquiao fought in that were highly ranked.

Once you get to 130 there is a host of fighters manny could take on. And manny wasn't a jr ligtweight until he fought Hatton in 09. At lightweight from 04- 09 there wer far more black american fighters than just zahir raheem.

            i would.

            they're too damn big.

i'd give him props for taking it if he did but to fight the #1-2 fighter in a division you haven't even fought in is too much to ask for.

i don't even blame floyd if he doesn't fight them. floyd's not a natural welterweight either imo. floyd has a frame of a lightweight. super lightweight at most.

there wasn't any ranked 130 guys who were african american when manny was fighting there.

from 2005 (his first fight at 130) to 2008 (his last fight at 130) the top 2-3 at 130 was a varying combination of morales , barrera , pacquiao and marquez.

pacquiao has only been fighting above 130 2 years.

                    he's only had 5 , just 5 , fights above 130.

I see your point but thats because they all fought one another. But 135 was probaly where the better black fighters were cant say you are wrong.
