Then define skills in boxing.
Floyd is the most skilled fighter of all time.

Ok Floyd is the best defensive fighter ive ever seen but IDK about skilled. Cause you say speed is not a skill but if he had no speed his defense/counter punching would not even b a factor in any of his fights.Comment

defence, offence, slickness, timing, ability to make adjustments, boxing iq etc etc.
Floyd is 2nd to Ali based on prime ability.
In terms of greatness, hes still an active fighter but im sure when he retires he will be regarded as #2 after Ali.
Pacquiao doesnt want to try though. He wanted to fight Clottey and Margarito first.
We will see what happens when they fight. Floyd has to be favourite though based on his jab and counterpunching ability.Comment

Those measures are all subjective Morales, and you can't measure skill level from random people taking a look at how a boxer performs!
If that's your logic of how to measure skill, then we all here would agree with each other, don't you think?
Remove the subjectivity and think of a tool to measure SKILL in a non-subjective tool, not just because the boxer has defense, offense, timing, and all that un-measurable ****e!Comment

IMO a boxer's skill level is measured by the level of achievements a boxer obtained throughout his career, where his skill took him, and all the accolades, titles, etc. the boxer received by showcasing his talent and SKILL.
Just my opinion and I'm open for corrections. To each his own, but that to me is how it is measured you see...Last edited by Tamis!; 08-31-2010, 11:32 AM.Comment

That description of skill is even more abstract than saying skill is counterpunching ability, timing and footwork. Many fighters achieved more than one title who arnt as skilled as fighters who achieved no titles.IMO a boxer's skill level is measured by the level of achievements a boxer obtained throughout his career, where his skill took him, and all the accolades, titles, etc. the boxer received by showcasing his talent and SKILL.

It's not abstract!
Name a champion who had no skill but still was a title holder.Last edited by Tamis!; 08-31-2010, 11:39 AM.Comment

I didnt use the term no skill, if youre a professional you should have some skill of some sort. So youre saying if a fighter attained 2 titles in his career, he is more skilled than every fighter who didnt attain at least 2 titles? How is that any type of measure of skill level, it isnt. This whole thread has just been another way to limit credit given to Floyd.Comment
