if floyd continues to duck pac and tough fights he might as well retire.
will boxing be better when floyd retires?

Even though Floyd buckled Oscar a couple times. Never once did I think Oscar was going to get stopped. It didn't even cross my mind once.
I think Floyd won the majority of the rounds. I don't think he dominated though. It just seemed to me that he was going through the motions, coasting a little bit, a little bit too defensive cautious. However, with Shane he opened up more.
I think that is what Mike meant the dominated part.Comment

i like how ppl have to look for a reason as to why boxing is in the state it is rite now. sure floyd doesnt do what we ant him to do, but can u blame him for looking after himself??? as fans we all wanna say hes a punk, a *****, etc. but out of all of the top fighters who have ever fought, how many of them experienced any glory, wealth, etc. after their careers ended? instead, these guys usually wind up broke and in poor health. its sad really, and all the fans can do is reminisce about these guys while lamenting the poor state they wound up in.
boxing is not much different from being a drug dealer if u asked me. sure u have all the fame and glory while you are on top, but when it's all gone, u pay the price. just remember all of that the next time we start hating a fighter for not doing something we want him to do.
I'm all for a fighter putting himself first. All i'm saying is, its idiotic to think that a fighter owes us fans nothing. If not for us, boxing would go down the tubes even further than it already has.Comment

And a few that weren't. My post was in response to his claim that even if you were an Oscar fan, the most you could give him was 4 rounds.
Personally, I have Oscar 4 or 5 rounds, can't remember which. Floyd gave away several in the first half of the fight.
In response to the thread, if Floyd isn't going to fight Pac, Williams or Martinez, then yes, he should retire, for GOOD.
Lol at Burner trying to backtrack from the 10 rounds he scored for Alexander.Comment

In all fairness though, Floyd owes us a fight with Pacquiao. We are the ones lining his pockets with millions and millions of dollars. He's not an NBA or NFL athlete who gets a multi year contract worth millions. He gets paid on a fight to fight basis, and this money is coming out of our pockets.

his stock went even higher after doing 1.4 and outright dominating shane. he said what needed to happen for the fight to happen. yall need to point the finger at pac at somepoint instead of using floyd as the scapegoatComment

I know i'll get flamed for this but floyd has continually backed out of fights with fighters that possed any type of chance against him? He never fought tony whilst he was in his prime, Cotto, mosley, p williams and now manny! I know Manny is very suspect but the others he had no excuse to not fight when they were knocking on his door. Instead he fought, oscar who was shot, ricky hatton, and not to mention baldomir (club fighter)
If and when floyd retires which he will soon, I believe boxing will be better! You have fighters like bradley and the 140 who all want to fight the to prove they are champs. Also We will get a huge star from who ever wins the super six. Do any of you agree??
floyd tried to fight cotto at 140 and arum declined. u could say he shouldve fought cotto instead of hatton, but there wasnt as big a gap between the two as ppl liek to pretend. they were both 140 and 147lb champions, both undefeated and both ranked in the p4p list. cotto just one step ahead of hatton, floyd went with hatton cuz he called floyd out dissrespecting him in the process and bcuz he draws more fans (and money). ppl like to twist his words though, floyd said he'd fight hatton cuz being english he draws more fans than the puerto rican cotto, now these haters bring up the puerto rican thing like all he said was he wouldnt fight a puerto rican which isnt the case.
mosley and floyd both challenged eachother and turned eachother down, cant put the blame on floyd. i agree he shouldve fought pwill by now.
the only guy u can say floyd really ducked is stevie johnston and perhaps williams, manny is as much to blame for that fight not happening as floyd is, he took real fights when he chose not to fight cotto and there was never any reason to fight margarito at all. uc an call baldomir a clubfighter all u want but margarito isnt any more of a challenge, and was less proven when floyd fought baldomir.
the real ducker is manny. he only fights washed up, tailor made oponents. he blatantly ducks guys like whne he fought david diaz instead of casmayor or campbell then left the division. now hes fighting a washed up punching bag who wasnt even any good to begin with.Comment

And, in terms of ring rankings he was ahead of Judah. When Judah lost to Baldomir the ring placed him under Marg. So Mag was ranked higher and Baldo was the lineal champ. Being the lineal champ makes you the man of the divisoin. But, lineal champ does not mean the best fighter in the division. Even Judah did not want to fight Marg. He straightout refused when he was the lineal champ.
Judah when he lost to Baldomir he not the the 2 best WW. And, not Floyd and Judah did NOT have a sing contract beforehand.
"There was no reason to fight Tony" WTF? Are you serious?
Just ridiculous statement.Comment

Yeah right pac single handily put the boxing back to the mainstream while floyd was killing the sport and now u r saying that pac is bad for boxing? LOL.
Boxing will be back to a dying sport again once pacquiao retire i will guarantee u that because no boxer will ever give the casual fans a high profile fight that will excite them.Comment

Been saying this for ages. Its only now starting to surface to the rest of the world because of his blatant ducking of a midget.
If you examine him closely he's been ducking real fights since 2003.
Floyd is a cancer to the sport and it can only improve once he leaves.Comment
