Boxing is, was, and will forever be, a global sport. A true fan of the sport does not care where a fighter came from, or what color he is. This whole "boxing is dying" theory is rubbish. I wonder how many posters on here are old enough to remember the first Ali/Chuvalo fight. I'm only bringing that 1965 fight up because experts and fans alike said it was a sign that boxing was in its death throws! There have always been people who over react to every little thing, and they have always been wrong.

And by the way, the thread starter's reference to Kelly Pavlik was way off the mark. He gained popularity because he had a hell of a run from the fall of 2005 up to his September 2007 title shot, and then he knocked out the undefeated, undisputed middleweight champion of the world. In so doing he became just the 5th man in history to win the true middleweight championship while still undefeated. It had nothing to do with being white.

White Eastern Euro Fighters are keeping this sport alive in the rest of the world.

          Deal with it.

black american fighters are overhyped like crazy on this forum, if they were all that good why do they always get exposed when they fight white eastern european fighters?

no..it has nothing to do with race...

well race is a factor but not THE factor... THE factor in boxing, and bringing more of America into boxing, is marketability. For instance Mayweather is the biggest draw in the sport and he's most decidedly not white. DLH ,Tyson, Roy, Ali, and so on..

TS you mentioned Berto, Dawson... Both have boring personalities and not the most entertaining fight styles. Dawson in particular has a boring safety first style. Mayweather also rocked that same mindset for a while, but his defensive skills were/are better, he had the ability to dazzle onlookers with his artistry... who has ever been dazzled by Dawson? Berto? lol.. Mr. Clinch? Please.

People will naturally gravitate towards their own race if only marginally and they hold no bias. Familiarity creates a connection to people so it's reasonable to state white folks would like to see white boxers do equally well in boxings lower divisions although a fair and object person would equally love and respect good non white fighters too.

If a fan wants to see white / black boxers do well but respects all boxers equally that's a true fan.

If a fan wants to see white / black boxers do well and other races not that's a racist.

But if you bring nationality into the equation all bets are off. ( I Am looking at you Americans he he....)

Face it, the only good american boxers are black and quite frankly mainstream white america dont care about them.

Just look at chad dawson and andre berto but yet when kelly pavlik comes on the scene hes huge.
White/black/hispanic people will support their own kind, just looking at the Ufc crowd tonight reminded me a of a wrestling match. All white drunks.

This isnt a racist post but all the white fighters are coming from europe, white fighters attract fans. Especially american whites and thats where the money is at.
Dawson is a defensive fighter, one who based on his last performance, seems to lack the mentality of a fighter, plus, his fights thus far have not been particularly exciting, hell, he had to go to Jean Pascal's home town cause he could not draw any fans.

As for Berto, Berto is a guy who has fought B/C class opposition thus far, a guy who has an overinflated opinion of himself, like he thinks he is a superstar already, despite not having beaten anyone of note.

Pavlik dethroned the undisputed MW champ, a champ who before Pavlik beat him, seemed to be disgracing the championship by labouring against fighters he should of been dominating, aside from that, Pavlik is a balls to the wall fighter who throws bombs and be's aggressive.

Of coarse there will be an element of that, but do we seriously think the situation would be any different if the majority of the population of American were black or Asian? no, there would still be a pocket of people that rooted for a guy based on colour, thats why this thread is ******, its the type of thing that does not need saying, cause its obvious that element exists, will always, regardless whether majority race is white or black/Asian.

That is unfortunately part of it, and that's something I don't understand. Sure, there are a lot of good white MMA fighters, but aren't the best fighters guys that AREN'T white? So what the hell?

Besides, MMA isn't nearly as popular as they try to proclaim themselves as. They may have more of a media push at the moment, but boxing is every bit as popular.
