As a Boxing Fan I am sad tonight

Our sport was embarassed, mocked, and made to look crappy.

Our sport is breaking apart from within.

Its strong in Europe, Latin America. But in USA, after tonight, things are just embarassing.

Tonight was an embarassment of epic proportions.

I apologize if this thread seems excessive

but today is depressing to be a Boxing Fan

We need to make some changes in this sport

Or else, 10 years from now, boxing will be a thing of the past in USA.

Dare I say, it already almost is.

    Its sad.

Maybe its me but I don't really feel affected by Toney's fat old outta shape ass tapping out...

Its not like it was Floyd or Pacquiao in there...THAT would be a major

I hate to say it, but if things keep up, boxing is out of mainstream media in USA.

HBO's budget is shrinking every year. ESPN2's FNF is having some problems.

If things keep up, boxing will disappear in USA as far as mainstream sport.

It already has been relegated to the back page in Sports Section

Boxing has been totally mismanaged in USA and its Depressing

Its a beautiful sport, but its been ruined...

          We're losing media coverage
          We're losing primetime TV
          We're losing PPV rates
          We're losing mainstream awareness

so people can deny a "boxing v mma" debate all they want. but it exists, its happening, and boxing is losing.

we need to make some changes and this is our last chance.

Boxing is in such pitiful shape that ESPN2 aired a Saturday Night card with mediocre fighters that sold out a small arena, in Puerto Rico a sold out arena was rocking when their guy Ivan Calderon lost his 0 to Segura. Argentina was going crazy during the Maidana-Corley battle.

Yes folks. Boxing is dead. RIP boxing.

To clarify myself, I am speaking of Boxing only in USA.

Boxing in Europe is very strong, the strongest its ever been.
Boxing in Latin America is strong.

But boxing in USA has been relegated to a niche sport

And tonight's embarassment just reinforces that.

I'm embarrassed by the reaction of you so-called boxing fans.

James Toney is a moron for challenging a professional at his own game. Stop putting their entire sport of boxing on the shoulders of a fat, washed up James Toney.

                He doesn't represent the sport.

Boxing has been a niche sport in the United States for 10 years.

                    agree 100% with you

you'll probably be hounded by a few pacifist boxing snobs with their hippie bullcrap about "Jame Toney didn't represent boxing tonight...let the MMA guys enjoy their fights and us ours...bla bla bla" talk.....when they don't take into account how the media is gonna have a field day with this..it's always been a hot topic, Boxing VS MMA....just try to talk to any casual combat sport fan now about boxing being better and they'll now direct you to the Toney/Couture scrap
