Tim Silva VS Hopkins/Roy in boxing rules

Man I would love to see this and the all the UFC bandwagon fans running their mouths right now to see how they react when a top MMa fighter looks like absolute crap in the boxing ring against old legends

If he is seriously what you want to represent current boxing, then I don't know what to say. Just let him and his fight tonight stand on it's own. It's not a representation of the sweet science AT ALL. So stop making it that.
I just lol at these desperate fools.

      Boxing ain't going anywhere.

      And neither is MMA.

So just let the two be.

True if you analyze things logically.

But the public does not analyze things logically. They only listen to and believe in sound bites. That's why Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton were such great communicators. They didn't make long rational speeches because they knew the public does not think. Instead, Reagan and Clinton would just make short but memorable statements like "Honey, I forgot to duck" or "There you go again". And of course, Clinton shot himself in the foot with "I did not have sexual relations....".

Dana White knows this. That is why "James Toney is one of the greatest boxers of all-time" was repeated 3 dozen times immediately after the fight. And you can bet it will be the UFC's new "product positioning statement" or "unique selling proposition" to differentiate their "product" from the other "product" (namely "boxing").

I agree with this thread 100% and I really really hope a boxing promoter listens to this idea

This can atleast restore some credibility to our sport

and we need it, right now.

            Very easy to implement.

Floyd can just pay Diego Sanchez/Josh Koscheck/Nick Diaz an amount 1/3 the penalty he paid for showing up overweight against Marquez, and these guys would show up on 3 days notice.

              Bump once again

because this thread is right on the money, and it is the only way for boxing to redeem itself

boxing promoters need to make this happen, honestly.

              we need it

tonight was a god damn embarassment and insulted boxing in every which way

tonight is a black mark on the entire history of boxing.

we need to salvage this sport, and this thread is the only way to do it.

HBO, Bob Arum, Don kIng, Ahmet Oner need to make this happen!!!!!

everyone in remote support of this thread is a complete moron. boxing doesn't need redemption. james toney lost in another sport. most any MMA fighter knows that unless they came inside of the ring to box, they would also lose handily on the world class level. 2 different sports.

now please, end this extreme ******ation. there is no boxing vs. mma. there are two different sports, they both just happen to be combat sports, and then somewhere mixed in are a bunch of extremely ******ed people like the thread starter.

there is no Boxing VS MMA

right and thats why the bar I go to, in order to watch boxing, no longer shows boxing and only shows MMA.

thats also why Showtime has reduced boxing coverage and now shows more MMA than boxing

thats also why ESPN now shows MMA

Boxing has directly lost mainstream coverage to UFC This is observed in Showtime and ESPN, as well as PPV buyrates where UFC has been beating us 3 years straight.

Eventually, HBO will discontinue boxing and boxing will not be televised on HBO with any degree of regulrity.
