Team Mayweather Selects Latest Excuse To Duck Cotto
24.04.08 - By Scoop Malinowski: Team Mayweather has floated several different excuses and reasons to duck Miguel Cotto in the past but this week, probably after extremely careful deliberation, they've come out and settled on one - that Cotto lacks enough star power to interest Floyd..

Team Mayweather has also used several other flimsy excuses to avoid Cotto: 1. We won't do business with Bob Arum again. 2. I'm not going to let boxing retire me, I will retire from boxing, when asked by Larry Merchant on HBO after the Hatton win if he will fight Cotto. 3. Floyd's bored with boxing. 4. Floyd's body is breaking down. 5. Cotto is a punching bag and he knows he can't beat Floyd. 6. Floyd may go to MMA or WWE.

Try Hatton, after Hatton had beaten JLC.
calling out floyd doesn't guarantee a fight with him. the only way to get a fight with floyd is if you fight on his terms and give into all his demands. example:

      1) mosley (OST)
      2) jmm (floyd would've even give up 3 lbs to him)
      3) hatton (fought at 147 which we know is not hatton's best weight)

      etc...

the only guy floyd had to make concessions to was dlh.

I guess floyd doesn't actually have to beat anyone in the ring since he wins them all in fantasy fights.
I don't see how Floyd loses to Cotto.

Miguel has a good chin, not world class, but it's solid so people need to cut that **** out.
What real puncher has Cotto been in with that compares to Diego Corrales?

The fight would've been better in 2008 at 147. Neither side appeared very interested, and we didn't hear anything about serious negotiations (press conference boxing fans, save me your "call out" crap). So for that, both deserve blame, although I cut Cotto slack for what he did instead. In 2008-09, he fought Margarito, Clottey, and Pacquiao.

so that means floyd doesn't have to actually get inside the ring and fight cotto right?

I'm pretty sure margarito and mosley punch a lot harder than corrales.
