ahhaahhaha i was thinking the same

but, Kess clearly declared that the eye issue was causin him problems before the Ward and Froch fight, during his trainings camp.

I'm pretty sure that huge headbutt in the first fight was on the wrong side for it to be causing the issue he's having now.

Also, he did say it's been an issue since before the Ward fight... words from Kessler himself.

He received several head butts to both eyes.

He was cut over the OTHER eye by a Ward headbutt in an earlier round.

Yes. He did already have a problem with his eye before the Ward fight, but those deliberate headbutts no doubt caused it to become more serious.

Well right, but... there was one headbutt that looked like it could seriously mess up the muscle structure in that fight, and it was the Kessler's left eye... his right eye is the one in question I believe.

Also, Kessler's words were that it was messed up during preparation for the fight itself. He probably would have said something about it getting worse during the Ward fight if it had... If there is a legit excuse for a fight going badly, a boxer will use it... Hell, they use ****** excuses that make no sense to justify bad nights, so...

Seems he's been dealing with it a while.
Yes. But if you already have a problem with an eye, there's nothing worse than being headbutted in that eye.

Maybe Ward had heard about Mikkel's eye problem and was deliberately targeting the eye with his headbutts.

Yeah your argument is still sound in that regard. He may have been further impaired as a result of that fight. But then he did go ahead with the Froch fight, so did Froch do more damage?

                  No way of knowing.

Can't argue with the facts - I stand corrected!

Maybe, or maybe not. But with Froch it would have been from LEGAL punches with boxing gloves.

More damage can be done by headbutts, because there's no padding (as we saw in McLellan-Benn, although that one wasn't deliberate like Ward's).
