Oscar didn't do anything we couldn't do. Except he's a professional boxer so it took him longer to get tired. He basically ran. Floyd would NEVER, EVER do that. Plus, at that point Tito was pretty drained. There's no question Floyd is the greater fighter. But at that weight...against one of the greatest welters ever...in his prime? No way.
Prime Tito vs Floyd @ 147

Trinidad wins by ko
Not even Floyds defense would prevent him from getting tagged at will by Tito.
Only a Withaker style defense would get him somewhere.Comment

I don't think Floyd throws often enough or hits hard enough to win convincingly against the best 147 pound Tito. Tito's power would keep the fight close, but I think Floyd pulls it off. Very close fight.Comment

People forget that all the guys who have outboxed Tito are at least 5'10 1/2.
Floyd is 5'8 with shoes on.Comment

I agree with your assessment, Trinidad was fighting both the opponent and the scales towards the end of his 147 lb career. Oscar received a few very hefty body shots in the middle rounds and in my opinion, having watched the fight when it happenes as well a a dozen or more times since, he began running in about the 7th round, getting progressively up to speed as the rounds progressed, until in the last 2-3 he was almost "lapping" Trinidad. Oscar's excuse, blaming his team, was weak, when ever did he "coast" in any of the many other fights he'd had up until then, when he really WAS winning by a "mile"??? NEVER.
Trinidad won the fight, and deserved to.Comment
