I'd probably have to say Barrera, but it's a close one.
I think having win's over (a hugely overrated) Hamad and the great Morales. Probably just about gives him the edge.

But I love both fighters, both had great skill and didn't might slugging it out for a few rounds.

You just contradicted yourself....

Marquez fights vs Pac stand alone as far as his greatness is concerned. You can never take anything away from those fights and even in a dec loss, JMM solidified his greatness in those fights against a prime Pac who walked through Barrera and Morales who weren't far off the age of JMM. (even though I would agree were past it)

JMM is NOT overrated, he is a great, great boxer who wasn't born with the power or speed other fighters were born with and yet has managed to be great because of his intelligence and technical skill in the ring.

I agree wholeheartedly, Marquez is a great fighter, I love to watch him. His fights with Pacquiao were outstanding. I think hes still probably one of the most purely skilled fighters in the ring today. But hes still overrated, as shown in this poll that has him above Barrera.

its like people forget the fact that his best win is Juan Diaz. Juan is a really good fighter. but he sure as hell isnt as good a win as Kennedy McKinney, Morales III, or Naseem Hamed. and half of Marquez's other 'good' wins Barrera actually already beat, often before Marquez did. Juarez, Peden, and Sanchez for example. Even Barrera's throwaway wins like Fana look pretty good in hindsight.

Marquez is a great fighter. but when you compare their career accomplishments and even head to head matchup, I kind of dont understand how you can have Marquez above Barrera.

i think barrera will go down as the greater fighter. unless jmm can win a title at 140lb. i like both but probably prefer barrera for what he did to naseem

i bet 200 on Barrera that night..when the final bell rang..my uncle who bet against me..walked off made and screaming that he had to pay me $200...then the decision came..it was a close fight..but Barrera dominated that fight and his boxing abilities outshined Marquez's that night...

Barrera is the better boxer..he could brawl,box,counter...Marquez can really only counter and box some what...he really disappointed me vs mayweather...did absolutely nothing.

How the hell is Marquez winning this poll?

Name one win Marquez has that can be compared to Morales or Hamed. Barrera is clearly a greater fighter. Marquez is a hell of a fighter but his best freaking win is either Juan Diaz or Casamoyer.
