Barrera was robbed.
Who is the greater Mexican Boxer - JMM or Barrera

Nobody that really understands and watches boxing believes that. Mexican fighters even though many have been tough brawlers, many have been very technical and great boxers.
It's a reputation that people say that really don't watch boxing. It's like when people say that Puerto Rican fighters are just finesse fighters, there's been some incredibly tough and rugged PR fighters.Comment

Marquez is mostly overrated due to his fights with Pacquiao. Dont get me wrong, theyre outstanding fights, but the fact of the matter is that Marquez's best non-controversial win is Juan Diaz, who was coming off a damaging loss to Nate Campbell.(and I thought Marquez won the IInd Pacquiao fight)
Barrera's fights with Morales are at least on par with Marquez's fights with Pacquiao(at least Barrera had a definite win over Morales). Ill go ahead and remind everyone that the Morales that Barrera beat in that third fight went on to beat Pacquiao.
and really, Barrera's wins over Hamed and McKinney are better than any wins that are on Marquez's record.
I have no doubt that the Barrera from the 3rd Morales fight would have beaten any version of Marquez too, based on all the trouble Marquez had with a pretty past it Barrera.(prime Barrera would definitely not have struggled with Rocky Juarez)Comment

Wow talk about a post thats devoid of any rational thought. Im not saying that I hate barrera he was a great boxer and Im a fan. But Marquez is a master boxer and if you cant find a master boxer entertaining then you don't know boxing.Comment

Marquez fights vs Pac stand alone as far as his greatness is concerned. You can never take anything away from those fights and even in a dec loss, JMM solidified his greatness in those fights against a prime Pac who walked through Barrera and Morales who weren't far off the age of JMM. (even though I would agree were past it)
JMM is NOT overrated, he is a great, great boxer who wasn't born with the power or speed other fighters were born with and yet has managed to be great because of his intelligence and technical skill in the ring.Comment
