Early on there were rounds Pascal was winning off pure activity cause Dawson wasn't doing anything

But later it became clear Pascal was winning and got the deserved victory

I just hope Pascal doesn't lose the titles before the rematch, if he faces Bute, he will...
So tell me this, do you really think Dawson wanted the fight to continue? Because I got the clear impression that he didn't.

Precisely!! He could have KO'd Pascal just about any time he wanted to. But it looks to me like he has deluded himself into thinking that he's FMJ who can win a fight throwing 25 punches per round and he manifestly IS NOT. This was one of the most frustrating fights I've watched in recent years because Chad could have beaten Pascal's ass but was so concerned with looking slick, he gave it away. Did he really think he was gonna' win a close defense-based decision in this guys backyard? What an IDIOT!!!

Thanks for the input, but my opinion still stands. I DVR'd the fight so I'll watch it again in the morning. Maybe I'm too drunk but I don't feel like Pascal won right now. Just nice to talk about something besides two boxers in the WW division that will never agree to fight.

I'm out bout to spark up some Xbox live.

I wouldn't called it a "robbery", because it was a close fight which could have gone either way. I had it 6-5 for Dawson, with the 11th round being a 10-8 round. So I had it 105-103 for Dawson.

The 108-101 score was laughable, but I can at least understand the 106-103 cards for Pascal since many rounds were close and tough to call. Many rounds featured Dawson controlling the first 2 minutes, with Pascal winning the final minute a bit more empathically. I felt the announcers initially only paid attention to the last 45 seconds of the early rounds, which is why they erroneously had Pascal as being far ahead. For example, Dawson easily won round 4 but the dumbass announcers were talking like Pascal "stole" the round in the final 15 seconds. From that point on, they let the crowd get to them and ignored Dawson's nice punches, while reacting with excitement (like the crowd) whenever Pascal flurried or landed.

Both fighters looked pretty bad. Dawson fought a ****** fight. Pascal looked a little amateurish and one dimensional. All he could do was rush forward and launch a flurry of akward arm punches. He could not fight going backward, and had poor stamina. He seems very athletic and has a great chin, but he doesn't know how to fight. Dawson was too ****** to take advantage. He didn't throw enough punches. He didn't keep Pascal backing up, which would have meant an easy win. After Pascal shot his load in the first 3 rounds, Dawson could of won this fight with his jab. All he had to do was jab, back him up and let his hands go when Pascal lazed against the ropes.

Pascal was dead tired in the 11th round. He may not have finished the fight. For most of the 11th round he was like a heavy bag, just absorbing heavy punches. He has a great chin. He may or may not have made it to the final bell.

The stoppage was a good one. The cut was too bad to let Dawson continue.

In summary, both guys looked bad and it could have gone either way. The announcers were morons and Lederman's score card was as ridiculous as always.

              Pascal rocked Dawson twice bad.
I was rooting for Dawson throughout the entire fight, and in my perception he was losing that fight. I'm not sure by how much, but Pascal was ahead one way or the other (whether by a couple rounds or three). Here's everything I noticed:

              1. Pascal was more tense. He was landing the more eye-catching punches early and the crowd roared every little thing Pascal did.

              2. Pascal was getting tired and disliked pressure. Whenever Dawson stood his ground and stalked Pascal, Pascal couldn't be as effective.

              3. Chad got hurt badly somewhere around the mid-late rounds (he nearly picked up Pascal by the legs). Impressive how Dawson actually went forward after taking some time off.

              4. Dawson's check right- awesome.

              5. The crowd was silent with Dawson's combinations. Pascal would lay on the ropes and eat that straight left through combination punching and...nothing from the crowd.

              6. Dawson had a huge round 11. Pascal was on the verge of being stopped on the ropes with the way he was teetering and buckling.

              7. Afterwards, did anybody catch that super accurate freezing left uppercut of Dawson? LITERALLY stopped Pascal for a second or two.

Bottom line: The fight wasn't the war we'd thought it would be. But it was certainly far from boring. It had its moments, but Pascal enjoyed more of them. I agree with the stoppage (as the cut was extremely bad) and could've affected Dawson's ability to:

a-) take punches around that area
b-) see punches coming from that side
c-) severely damage skin tissue and affect future fights
d-) cause a longer recuperative period for the cut to heal properly

I agree with the doctor stopping the fight and I agree that Pascal was winning on the scorecards, but Dawson looked like he was going to get ready to create a classic come from behind KO with the way Pascal was looking. It didn't matter after the cut, though...even if the doctor had allowed it to continue, I think Pascal would've opened up his arsenal and unloaded on that eye and then turned the tables yet again. It's better to cut your losses, because with the way that cut was looking, it should not be frowned upon if a doctor says, "The cut's too deep."

FINAL THOUGHT: I'd love to see a rematch between these two, but Pascal should go on and fight Bute and make the big money in Canada first. Dawson, in the meantime, should go with Merchant's suggestion of going on to fight Cloud. The fight would still garner interest. Not an entirely disappointing performance by Dawson, but I wonder if those 4 fights in a row with Tarver and Johnson accustomed him to fighting people who wither and don't offer any resistance. Here he met Pascal, a fighter who gave it his all and should be commended for it. He showed his chin and his heart, and in the end, I can't wait to see both fighters' careers after this fight (same as Alexander/Kotelnik). I hope you all enjoyed the fight as much as I did.

That's my post for the day (or midnight actually).

              Good night! Off to bed!

PS (edit): I'm reading the posts and see people posting the same thing. Many are right, Pascal was much less effective going backwards. Dawson could've won the fight had he pressured, but...then I remember how I'm offering excuses and I need to shut up.

              So sleepy...

Chad fought a ****** fight he didn't look his usual, he had a chance to ko him in 11th round that one shot really wobbled Pascal he should've followed that up, I think it was his first big cut and he didn't know how to deal with it. He would've definitely stopped Pascal in 12th. In rematch Chad will kill this dude. But all the props to Pascal he had really good game plan.

Chad is the reason he lost the fight...Pascal did exactly what he had to do, and Chad could have took control at anytime...He chose not to. Oh well. Maybe he will learn from this.

Are you kidding? Pascal was dead tired and had been stunned at least once in the 11th. Dawson was beating him like a drum. I get the impression Dawson was also tiring, but Pascal was already exhausted. He had nothing left, and it was obvious. Pascal may not have made it to the final bell. The problem was not even that he was taking huge punches (he wasn't), just that he didn't even have enough stamina to defend himself at that point. He looked like a human heavy bag for much of the 11th, and the 12th probably would have looked similar.

Also, Dawson's dumbass corner was finally starting to realize that he was not going to win a close fight in Montreal. They should have told him he needed a KO, because telling him he had to win rounds emphatically was just not working. They were finally starting to hint to him that he needed to do something drastic like score a knockdown or win by stoppage. They should have been smacking Dawson across the face and screaming that he needed a KO. That's the only way to get some guys to throw more punches.
