Even if Williams does take this rematch it doesn't totally vindicate him for stalling it over bullshit. It looked all along like Martinez was the only one who wanted the fight and not Williams. Say what you want about the landscape before Martinez fought Pavlik. But that's all history. Martinez is someone who has gained my respect and Williams lost a lot of my respect. And it isn't only because of each guys' behavior outside of the ring lately. It's because of their respective performances after their first fight.

Martinez had a guy who outweighed him big time and he handled Pavlik like it was easy outside of the middle rounds. Regardless of who you think won between Williams and Cintron, Paul looked like shit in that fight and fought scared even if Cintron did dive out of the ring. And Pavlik > Cintron.

It was Williams who tried to make the Martinez bout first. He wanted it after the first bout and when Martinez fought Pavlik. He stated before the bout that he wanted the winner, showed up at the fight and called out Martinez immediately after. Martinez was talking about a rematch with Pavlik and even Margarito but, ultimately, he had to turn to Williams. And Williams, after being snubbed, tried to get a big money fight but he also knew he wasn't in the running and it appears we're going to get the rematch we wanted. I don't see how Williams needs vindication in the first place.

If Williams can beat Martinez now, he's the man.

Yea but at that time, Pavlik had a rematch clause and didnt want to make any plans until Pavlik said whether he would excercise his option. Then he wanted to face Marg, a person who beat him decades ago.

But yea i expected him to rematch willaims
