I thought you have to "decisevly" take the belts away from another fighter. Taylor did not do that to say the least.

You all act as if Hopkins didn't even come out of his corner and Taylor shadowboxed the entire time.

Boxing is a sport. Professional Boxing is entertainment more than sport. Promoters are looking for fighters that excite crowds, and that are agressive. For professional boxing to survive, and for fans to keep filling up venues, and for fighters to keep getting the big paydays, it takes the exciting fighters to keep the public interested. It is the paying fans that want excitement. There are few boxing fans that watch professional boxing for the sport. It is all about keeping the customer entertained. The exciting fighters are the ones that bring in the money, and therefore the establishment will always favor a aggressive fighter over a dull fighter.

Hopkins has been in this sport for many years, he says he is aware of how the system works, and has done everything to battle that system. Well Hopkins was a fool on Saturday, he had a chance to close the show and KO Taylor , but fought with no real urgency in the last 2 rounds while Taylor was exhausted.

My thinking is that Hopkins knew what he was doing. He threw the fight. Hopkins knew that he was behind in the fight, and decided to close the Gap in rounds 9-12. But when Taylor got hurt with a counter right , he was forced to pull back and let Taylor recoup.
Hopkins was not that upset at the end of the fight. There was no cry for a investagation, but there is a rematch clause. So make even more money on the rematch, and at that time Hopkins will come out and beat Taylor easily, like he was suppose to the first time. This will make Hopkins look like a greater fighter than ever.

The Closing comments to the HBOPPV broadcast by Manny Steward rang true. He mentioned that Hopkins had many opportunites to hurt Taylor, but didnt. Hopkins is a great fighter with many weapons, but only chose to use the counter right all night. Both statements that Steward made are true, and lead me to believe that a fight was thrown.

By Hopkins tied to another fight with Taylor, this leaves out the possibility of Hopkins fighting Wright. I believe Hopkins did the right thing in a business sense. He lost the fight, but not without contraversy, and now will make more on the rematch, and at the same time will be able to beat Taylor easily which will award him a higher status in history, and lastly not having to fight Wright a more dangerous opponent.

I highly doubt Bernard would have ended his streak by throwing the fight.

                Come on now guy.

Streaks do not get you more money in retirement. Hopkins wins in every way money wise, and then gets vindication for the contraversal loss. Its business.

If you land more punches than the other guy, assuming similar impact, you win the round. Hopkins didn't do enough to win the early rounds.

It's not rocket science. You can't blame Taylor for winning.
