One thing I think people need to realize is Taylor has problems when pressured. I said it before the Hopkins fight and I still say it. When Hopkins turned the heat up in the final rounds Taylor couldn't deal with it. That's all Lacy does. Like I said if Taylor can keep him away with the jab he will beat Lacy convincingly. If Lacy can pressure Taylor from the get go and get past the jab he will beat Taylor.

I heard Taylor fought Lacy a few times in the amateurs and beat him every time.Originally posted by RiptorHey all,
After watching the Jermain Taylor hopkins fight I started to think about something. Jermain Taylor unofficially came in weighing 171. He is still growing and he definitely will have to step up in weight. It seems that he and Jeff Lacy are on a collision course. If he and Jeff Lacy were to fight in the next fight or two who do you all think would win?
I personally feel that it would be a good fight with Jeff Lacy coming out on top. Lacy is very very strong and is a solid 168 pounder. Jermaine would be solid too, however could he handle the big punch that lacy would put out? and remember Lacy is not 40 so a fast pace in close fight would be exactly what he would want. Lastly Lacy can take a heck of a punch he showed that when he fought that iranian guy. I cannot remember his name. What do you all think??? Who do you see winning?
P.S. I still think Hopkins won because he started to take over late. Lastly if you all remember you have to take a champions title not make it to the twelth round. He did not give Hopkins a sound beating. he does not deserve the belt. However he won so my hat goes off to him.Comment

Im a different animal knife...
I hate a guy like Felix Trinidad and have taken a liking to a guy like Miguel Cotto...I despise a guy like Julio Ceasar Chavez and root against Erik Morales to no end but my absolute favorite fighter is JL Castillo.
As for Taylor and Hopkins I had absdolutely no preference going into the fight, I did not care who won, I thought going in that Taylor was recieving far too much credit for his body of work.
Now with all of this said I had Taylor winning the fight, I acknowledged at the end of the fight and I acknowledge now that the contest could have gone either way, I repeat it could have gone either way.
There is no way you will catch me saying to the people who thought Hopkins won the fight, "hey Hopkins hunthugger" why wont I say this? ...because the fight was so close...I cant understand how someone can be called a Taylor nuthugger for thinking Taylor won, I know Im not the biggest Taylor fan in the world, hell I thought he was overblown before the fight.
But I cant understand for the life of me why Taylor is recieiving less credit in the aftermath of his razor thin victory over a guy with 20 title defenses then he was before the fight, I thought he showed a lot, so he didnt dominate, so the fight could have gone to Hopkins...so what-the young green kid still fought a good fight...imagine what he can do when he fights a great fight!Comment

Jeff Lacy by tko late rounds, taylor might keep the jab pumping early and get tired from jabbing a bigger guy later on in the fight.Comment

That must have hurt :-(
Yeah Taylor wants me to not like him or something. I don't have anything against Taylor even now, he just beat Hopkins who I hold in high regards so I give him credit.
But the LEAST he could have done was beaten him more clearly by a UD...damned Jerry Roth and Taylor. Not only does he beat one of my favorites but he does it in a way that screwed me outta 3 billion fake points.
