Who cares though really? Not much different than what goes on in some training camps. Guys are hired to fight and some times, there is no headgear.

Famous example is Sugar Ray Leonard when he came back leading up to Marvin Hagler. Leonard fought supposedly several full 12 round fights, with ref, no headgear, unofficially and unsanctioned. This was all very hush hush.
I remember reading about that. Apparently he also did it after his final fight, when he was still thinking that he could comeback yet again but was persuaded to do it behind closed doors unofficially to test how much he had left, and he did so badly that he finally accepted his career was over. Not sure how true that is, but that's what I've read at least.

leonard said he was knocked out by future middleweight champ quincy taylor while preparing to fight hagler so he changed his style from toe to toe to hit and run for the fight.

read the book "Four Kings" and it discusses that in detail, and also the book, 'Sorcery At Ceasers'. good stuff. i admire Sugar Ray's dedication to one fight...

I don't understand what it's all about. Undefeated Top 10 guys like Povetkin should fight the current top 10 guys... OK - at least boxrec's Top 25. Everything else if boring and not worth being "investigated".

Apart of the world champions, Povetkin vs following people would be interesting and will help Alexander to restore his reputation:
          Tomasz Adamek
          Ruslan Chagaev
          Nikolay Valuev
          Chris Arreola
          Denis Boytsov
          Odlanier Solis
          Samuel Peter
          Robert Helenius
          Eddie Chambers rematch
          Alexander Dimitrenko
          Juan Carlos Gomez

Right. But I don't think this was anything more than Atlas keeping Povetkin "busy" and probably nothing more than an advanced version of a sparring match to try out some techniques. (hence the non-sanctioned exhibition match and keeping it on the down low).

How this farce with Seldon in any way advances Povetkin's career
and makes him more able to beat Wlad or Vitali I really can't see.
All it does is make Povetkin look crazy: he turns down 2 million
bucks for a borderline illegal farce?

Teddy is freaking insane and will ruin this guy. He's done it before.

It obviously wasn't intended to advance his career it basically was training for Povetkin, nothing more really than that.

Atlas has had what, two fights with him? I think Atlas just wants more experience together, I seriously doubt he cared who the hell the guy in the corner was just someone that Povetkin could fight, stay busy, have more experience with Atlas, try some things out, etc.

I think it's clear they want klistchko but atlas wasn't comfortable with where he was at and wants a little more time to improve somethings. He's not dumb he understands klitschko is very difficult task and he is simply wanting Povetkin to be the best he can possibly be
