This would help tonnes. It's crazy cos (here in England) every free to watch boxing programme gets great ratings, yet ITV, BBC, etc. are still not willing to invest in it. They just don't care for some reason.

Maybe boxing is too expensive for what it is. Over-inflated wages and purses in comparison with UFC etc. We need to give our stars a pay-cut.

      boxing is unpredictable.

most people only watch for 1 fight on the card.

if that fight lasts only 1 round , the ratings are screwed.

one advantage ufc has is people watch the undercards too.

has nothing to do with undercard quality either.

most people that watch mma watch it to see mma fights.

most people that watch boxing watch it to see boxers.

This would attract more fans, and better boxers. If a child from the ****** could get a full scholarship from boxing, it would open up a whole new world. Can you imagine the amount of parents signing there children up for pee wee league boxing, lol. Putting Boxing back into the school system, is the best way to grow it into Americas #1 sport.[/IMG]
thats the worst way. there never was boxing in elementary or middle schools and the highschools that did have boxing were minimal and are dated back to the 70's. lol.

most parents feel boxing is dangerous for little kids. not goin to happen, its called promoting violence. now if a parent wants to take their kid to a pal for jo's and ****, thats aight but come on man.

people think when someone say that "the top athletes in america have other alternatives" they think that people are saying that and using that as an excuses but it is just facts

why take a bunch of punches to the head when you can go play Basketball or Football or Baseball and make Millions without having to get punched in the HEAD

I don't think they can make Boxing any bigger then what it is now, they need to try and build up more STARS in boxing, right now only Mayweather and Pacman are real Stars, the rest of them have talent but can't any of them do a Million in PPV Buys UNLESS they are fighting Mayweather and Pacman

HBO, Showtime, all the Promoters they need to try and build up guys, don't just try to make them a star strictly based on what they do in the ring, instead of just doing HBO 24/7 for a big fight, they need to do a 30 minute special for each of their top fighters on HBO

also a mega card on National TV once a year would help, kinda like the Super Bowl, when all the Promoters get together for this one mega event, one reason why boxing has fell off because everybody is busy trying to cash in on PPV's and HBO that they went away from Regular TV and every sport comes on Regular TV...BESIDES BOXING! think about how easier it would be to make guys into Draws and "Cash Cows" if you could showcase them to the WORLD instead of just a few Million ordering a PPV and a few Million watching on HBO or Showtime

We need a unified commission and we need better fight cards, like the UFC. for instance, UFC 117 was full with evenly matched contestants, that kicks ass, all exciting fights.

i wasn't just watching the card for Chael Sonnen (hehe), but also Thiago Alves, Clay Guida, Stefan Struve, Junior Dos Santos, u understand? it's not just about 1 fight anymore.

the boxers can take a little pay cut and part of the PPV buys, cuz they'll be a lot bigger than they've ever seen!

the collegial boxing seems like a great idea which seems do-able. maybe make a amateur student world tournament? mail it to the AIBA, this many credits then u can participate, etc. etc., who knows? heheh

There is no chance of this ever happening but if there was ever a chance the following has to happen:

                1. More boxing gyms throughout the country.
Now I wanted to start boxing earlier than I did but unfortunately there weren't the resources.

Most fans of any sport (minus UFC) are fans in their adulthood due to them participating in some form or fashion of that particular sport at an early age.

If more kids boxed or were encouraged to, then more would grow up to become fans.

Not only that but often if its just one kid, the whole family would take an interest in an attempt to better support and understand what is going one when they watch their relative participate in that sport.

                2. Get boxing on regular television.
When boxing was at it peak, popularity wise, it was due to it being easily accessible to as many American's as possible.

If all these PPV's were on a major network, being shown for free, then more would be willing to watch a fight.

It's kinda hard for the casual fan to shell out 60 bucks for a Mosley vs Mora or Diaz vs Marquez fight.

                3. Better job of Marketing fighters
such as boxers doing tv commercials, guest appearances on popular shows, and other main stream things.

This is why sports like the NBA and NFL are as popular as they are is because we see their stars all the time when we turn on our tv.

Football,Baseball, Basketball, and Soccer touches every family in the world because there is at least one family member playing one of those sports. How many people can say they have a real competeing boxer in there family, no where near the same amount.

After boxing is put back into the schools football and basketball will take a huge hit on new recruits, because a champion boxer shines alot brighter than a star basketball player, for the simple reason its a one on one sport vs a team sport where you have to share your victory.
I also believe it would cut down on school violence. All the school real fighters would be in the gym boxing.

Anyone have any ideas on how to get this started. The more I think about it the more I feel its a brilliant plan. Football,Baseball, Basketball, and Soccer coaches are not gonna like this idea, I promise you that, lol.
Dude...stop living in fantasy land. The government has NO RIGHT of making student hurt themselves while they're studying. if a young kid wants to go it has to be with they're parents concent AND in a private boxing gym. BOXING is a DANGEROUS SPORT.

no, they shouldn't. boxing is a very dangerous sport and they need to give they're bodies time to heal in between fights. easy for you to say when it isn't YOUR brain getting bashed in 6-7 times a year.
