Skill wise he's might just be top 10-15..his resume isn't too great, but I'm sure when it's all said in done he'll have a very good looking resume...like somebody said earlier, he could've been greater

WTF? Manny became mainstream with that fight, anybody semi familiar with boxing knew he was destined for great things after his wars with Barrera, Morales, and Marquez

Floyd is a tricky one. Has he got ATG defense abilities and skills i would say yes without even knowing all the great defensive boxers of all time.

But he hasnt got a ATG resume against great boxers in their primes. There was a time when he could have fought the Cottos and Margaritos of this world but didnt. He missed the boat there, but he could be fighting the sergio martinezs or Paul Williams of this world but isnt doing it. Its hard to talk about Floyd because i cant read his mind and intentions. You get the feeling he dont even care if people think he is an ATG. If he dont care, i dont think we should have any urgency to put him somewhere his heart isnt in. He may say he is the Goat but actions speak louder than words. And worser boxers than Floyd have even proclaimed themselves the best when they clearly arent.

Berhard Hopkins in my opinion has a higher claim to be an ATG than Floyd has.

So by that equation he isnt ATG. ATG is top 20 boxers shall we say.

If Floyd really wanted to be an ATG there are specific things he could do to get there. He would make hit list of all the best boxers he could try get a fight with and fight them to make himself look great to get him where he needs to be. Sure he might deep down not think he can do it. But he has to be seen to take the risk. Fight sergio martinez or paul williams now. Not tommorow. Only Floyd knows what he wants. Fight Pavlik.....believe me it will count at the end of the day. Sure PBF might lose, but hey thats the risk you take. Is it the zero thats holding you back?
Cotto has fought Yuri foreman. Floyd in my opinion isnt retired so could have fought Yuri for starters. It all counts at the end of the day. Too much indecisivness and stooling, and beating up on yesterdays names like SSm.

I often hear he is supposed to be one. But i have to admit when i watch him fight, he dont seem to be a great fighter to me. Elusive of course. But i keep thinking if all one wants is to not get hit, i think anyone could look and fight like him.

If like Floyd you only throw 300 punches, you are being overly negative. The ref might stop the fight because PBF isnt throwing back. Dirrell vs Froch comes to mind. And Dirrell is like Floyd come to think of it.

Your criticism is that he doesn't throw much, yet he manages to LAND more than his opponents whilst they double his punch output. Regarding Mayweather as an ATG, his skill set would put him in top 10. Right now though he would be top 30-40 ATG - I really hope hope he fights Pac and one more fight against Martinez.

His great in his own way...........His top 50 in my list. He was best when he was in lower weight. But at 147, his picking opponents........

Its a shame though, how rare is it that 2 ATG's close to their prime can step in the ring together and box!!??

But due to ego's the people will never see this happen.
