If like Floyd you only throw 300 punches, you are being overly negative. Dirrell vs Froch comes to mind. And Dirrell is like Floyd come to think of it.
Assuming all boxers have the skill, reflexes, and timing necessary to counter every punch thrown by his opponent in the first place.

That's not an easy skill. If it was, Clottey would have actually put up a fight against Pacquiao. Or throwing 1000 punches would be viewed as a negative most of the time, rather than a positive because you leave yourself opened to be countered by anybody(Regardless if they actually have enough skill to counter or not).

I voted no, because ATG phrase gets thrown around like a neighborhood whore

He def. would get my HoF vote. ATG fighters for me are Top 10-20 fighters and he isn't anywhere near that. If only he fought better opposition the last 5-6 years who knows.

Floyd offence is one of the best and is the best if you measure in terms of efficency.

Conservation of motion is a huge thing in boxing and if you can master the art you don't need to throw a million punches or move like a jack rabbit to dodge. It allows you to fight in a way that will keep you strong all night no matter what the other guy is trying to do.

It is something very rare and to make it out as an easy thin anyone can do is foolish. If 100 talented guys tried to fight like Floyd 99 would fail because they lack the discipline and the other one would probably fail also.

To be an ATG you have to fight the best where there in their prime. Could he be..of course he can....how? Let's say Mayweather and Pacquiao fought in 2011 and Pacquiao gets a lucky punch and knocked out Mayweather. A year later they rematch and Mayweather get a UD.....than they have their 3rd and final rubber match. Both Mayweather and Pacquaio can be no doubt ATG if they had a trilogy against each other. But as Mayweather said: "Legacy doesn't pay the bills" he only fights for money. So why should we care if Mayweather is a ATG when we all know he doesn't fight for legacy? I use to be a Mayweather fan but since he turned into the Brett Farve of boxing I can't stand him anymore. And yes I'm a boxing fan who pays his PPV to see him lose.

Floyd is a tricky one. Has he got ATG defense abilities and skills i would say yes without even knowing all the great defensive boxers of all time.

But he hasnt got a ATG resume against great boxers in their primes. There was a time when he could have fought the Cottos and Margaritos of this world but didnt. He missed the boat there, but he could be fighting the sergio martinezs or Paul Williams of this world but isnt doing it. Its hard to talk about Floyd because i cant read his mind and intentions. You get the feeling he dont even care if people think he is. If he dont care, i dont think we should have any urgency to put him somewhere his heart isnt in. He may say he is the Goat but actions speak louder than words. And worser boxers than Floyd have even proclaimed themselves the best when they clearly arent.

Berhard Hopkins in my opinion has a higher claim to be an ATG than Floyd has.

So by that equation he isnt ATG. ATG is top 20 boxers shall we say.

Cotto and specifically Margarito are not great fighters, they are of the same level of guys Floyd has dominated. I would have liked to see Floyd fight Casamayor and possibly Stevie Johnson but even those guys are not truly greats in an all time boxing sence although both would have made his resume look better.

I don't think a truly great fighters really came about until Manny emerged after the Oscar fight, if he fights and beats Manny all that bull**** about the guys he didn't fight wiill go away (atleast for the most part, haters are going to hate it is what they do).
