Do divisions get unfairly labeled "weak" if the top fighters are not American?

But until Ward and Dirrell emerged, the Kellermans and Raskins were saying the division was no good.

That's not true, in fact when the Super Six was made and people actually started paying attention, Dirrell and Ward were questioned whether they even had a chance in the tourney, and at that point the division was considered very deep.

I find ALL their masterful performances entertaining. They have better KO ratios than Ali, Holmes, Lewis, Holyfield and even Tyson.

They both have many 1st and 2nd round KOs.

When was the last entertaining fight of Floyd Mayweather or Chad Dawson?

But the Kellermans and Raskins lavish praise on them because they are Americans.

And what was so good about it? Jeff Lacy was getting schooled/proven to be overhyped, Jean Pascal moved up, Kessler wasn't taking his career seriously and Miranda was shot to hell by then. Oh and Bute and Taylor got KTFO. It was just Froch, Abraham and maybe Taylor or Kessler. That's not a loaded division. Dirrell and Ward upsetting all of them is what made it so interesting. It also brought new styles into the division, and add in Bute rebounding with impressive KOs over Andrade and Miranda.

Lucian Bute never got KOed. He's still undefeated.

THE THING YOU HAVE TO REALIZE IS THAT IF ALL THESE EURO CATS HOLD THE STRAPS AND THEY ONLY FIGHT IN EUROPE THEN THE AMERICAN PUBLIC HAS NO INTEREST
BUT THAT DOESNT MEAN THE DIVISION IS WEAK

FOR US AMERICANS TO GIVE THEM LOVE WE HAVE TO BE EXPOSED TO THEM SO THAT MEANS THEY HAVE TO BE WILLING TO TAKE RISKS AND COME FIGHT HERE IN AMERICA

Those division suck because they lack depth so even if the top guy (or guys if you are talking heavy) is the greatest fighter ever it is hard for them to prove it since there is no one to test their skills against.

Heavy has 2 proven guys that are awesome but who else is really proven anything in that division other than Adamek and when a light heavy can do well at heavy that is pretty much a sign the division is soft.

Middle who is proven, Pirog is starting to really prove himself and Sturm is proven in some regard but I think he has proven to not be top shelf either. Martinez started at 147 is a proven solid fighter but to me he isn't a middleweight and Williams isn't either (both are proven solid fighters I just doubt them at middle against any kind of quality opposition).

It certainly hurts those division in the eyes of Americans but if each of those division had strong American fighters they would be deeper, but if they had proven strong fighters from around the world they would be deep also. They would get more recognition in America if there were good Americans there.

Bute is a good fighter though I hope to see him fight Dawson next if Dawson can get by Pascal.
