  • Do divisions get unfairly labeled "weak" if the top fighters are not American?

Like middleweight, heavyweight and cruiserweight, for example.

And do divisions like 140 get called "loaded" by Max Kellerman and others if it's top fighters happen to be Americans?

As much as it pains me to say this it's very true which is upsetting for me because I find myself liking US fighters less because of it.

I don't think most Americans are prejudiced I just think that with the US being as large as it is geographically and with the American media being the way it is the American people aren't as willing to accept European fighters because since world war 2 America has been the 'Daddy' of Western nations.

Most of the Americans I meet are really nice, very smart and polite - perhaps moreso than many Europeans they're just not willing to 'see' the outside world which reflects in their views on boxing.

The one thing that drives me crazy though is the racial splitting in america and the indoctrination it creates over foreign non 'traditional' racial fighters which is what we're seeing with the Klits.

    My 2 cents anyway.

Naw I wouldn't say that since people have been saying the Middleweight division was weak even when Pavlik was Champ. While everyone was saying 168 was loaded that there wasn't a American champ for a bit. Heck the Light Heavyweight division is weak right now.

This is true. I remember Lennox Lewis facing similar critism as the Klitschkos do know, such as he is boring and all type of dumb ****.

Also they tried there best to build up guys to beat him and were praying even fighters who were done, ala Tyson, would beat him.

Americans are like that little kid who wants all the toys to themselves and b1tch an moan when they have to give one up.

I like the diversity as far as champions from different countries are concerned because it promotes the sport world wide.

I do however agree and think it's ****ed up to label a division weak because a champ isn't American.

I guarantee you if Lacy would have beat Calzaghe, 168 would have been receiving so much love yet Calzaghe won and the division was labeled as being garbage.

youre kidding me, you think that Middleweight is not a weak division? granted, its getting a lot better, but its been crap for a long time now...since the Bernard Hopkins days.

the light heavyweight division is also really weak, and there are plenty of Americans there.

usually you can tell by just watching the fights, but heres an easy way to do it...when subpar 168lbers can move up to LHW and become top 10, it seems a bit weak. likewise, when the not best LHW can move up to HW and become top 5, it seems a bit weak.

most everyone will say 168 is a deep division, and theres only two top good Americans there.

American fighters are the best athletes. Mexicans and other Latin nations produce the best warriors.

European fighters are mostly boring defensive ones who use a jab and fight with a high guard. These fighters are vastly inferior to the americans/latinos and only succeed when there is a shortage of talent.
