When I think of legend, I think of like a top 20 or 30 of all time fighter. Bernard is a hall of famer but I don't think he is a living legend. What I do think that Bernard is a throwback and a fighting style that we may never see again.

no one claimed tua is great.

yeah talk as much as you want about bhop being better than tua.

just don't write any of that silly stuff of hopkins being better than roy or hagler or monzon or anybody great for that matter.

hopkins resume and skills just don't compare to real greats.

I said he was a legend.

He captured the lineal light heavy championship at an age when most fighters have long been retired.

He is doing things now that most fighters couldnt do in their prime.
          lol

i always laugh at idiots who try to compare hagler fighting leonard and hearns to hopkins fighting tito and delahoya.

take aside the fact that we're talking about different levels of greatness among the fighters.

          1. hagler is a small middleweight by today's standards.

          2. leonard and hearns were huge welterweights even by today's standards.

size difference between hagler and hearns and leonard were minimal. in fact leonard and hearns had height advantages and reach advantages. (maybe leonard had the same reach not sure)

hopkins on the otherhand is a natural light heavyweight.

we are talking about different era's not different levels of greatness.

Trinidad was a huge WW too. Oscar, Trini and Ray Leonard are all Close to the same size in terms of reach and height.

what did Hearns do to make him "great"

i don't like hearns much and don't think too highly of him but he's greater than bernard hopkins.

pipino cuevas , wilfred benitez , roberto duran..... those names ring a bell?

Bernard could make a serious case for being the best fighter of the past decade. Only possibly Manny Pacquaio beats him, IMO. One thing I must say though: I lost a whole lot of respect for Bernard when he claimed he was "robbed" against Joe Calzaghe. Worst case scenario that was 114-113 for Calzaghe. But I thought it was more like 115-112 Calzaghe, and could have even been 116-111 if I wasn't being so easy on Bernard because of his age. He's a sore loser to say the least. Taking nothing away from his accomplishments, of course. Just overcoming the prison system to make yourself a world-class boxer, and millionaire are massive accomplishments in and of themselves. Bernard is an ATG, no doubt.
