People need to **** off with this "he should move up" mentality. Not everyone has the physical tools to be able to do that. JMM is already fighting at a physical disadvatage at 135 and is winning off of sheer skills, talent, and being a badass.

Why would he deliberately lose that much money by putting JMM with Kat? Kat is a GBP fighter too remember.

Schaeffer wants Kahn/Marquez badly and is the one pushing this fight. He has to pay Kahn a high guaranteed purse. I think he may pressure Marquez in to it and is trying to hype him for it with the whole 4 weight class thing.

so marquez already called out and fought mayweather at welterweight, 2 divisions above marquez's normal/best fighting weight...
and marquez again wants to fight at welterweight against pacquiao...
which is again 2 divisions above his best fighting weight...
so then kahn wants to fight marquez, who is only one division above jmm...
so some think its ok for marquez to want to get a trilogy fight with pac at welterweight, but then think its not ok for kahn to fight marquez, why is that?besides, i think marquez poses more of a threat to kahn than maidana...

Great in theory, but Marquez wants to fight Pac at around 140-142 which is the main reason I don't think that fight will ever happen.

If that's the sort of bull**** Khan wants to spout off to us - the paying public; the people who pay his way - then he can get fucked. I hope whoever he fights next will destroy his ducking ass.

Well at least he's admitting he's not fighting the best 140 lbs and we'll be saying the truth 10 years later that instead of fighting the best, hed went after old Mexican veterans, any **** talking from him makes him look ****** cuz khans only fought 2 legit 140 lbsers while Alexander and Bradley have proven themselves, **** this clown! he knows that he'd rather have the war torn winner of Alexander-Bradley then to go through both of them. hes gonna get exposed really fast, prince nas style!

It sounds like Khan is trying to build up Marquez in an effort to take the heat off of him for trying to get a fight against the smaller and older Marquez rather than the top light welterweights in the division. What better way than to say that Marquez is better than all the top light welterweights.

By saying that, Khan has an excuse for not fighting the top fighters from his own division. Khan probably should have taken on Maidana in his last fight in May. Instead, however, Khan took on the light hitting Paulie Malignaggi and ended up stopping him in the 11th.

After the fight, Khan said he wanted to go after the top light welterweights in the division. But now he’s targeting the 36-year-old Marquez rather than fighters from his own weight class, and many boxing fans find it peculiar that Khan is doing this.

It’s true Marquez is a bigger name than Alexander and Bradley right now, but he’s also about to turn 37 and fights in a division below Khan. Fans of Khan like to point out that Floyd Mayweather Jr. fought Marquez last year, and that it should be okay for Khan to target Marquez as well.

The problem is Khan hasn’t had a real tough opponent since being knocked out in the 1st round in 2008. Since that loss, Khan has fought the following fighters: Oisen ***an, Marco Antonio Barrera, Andriy Kotelnik, Dmitriy Salita and Malignaggi.

None of those fighters were huge punchers and Barrera was an old 35. Fans would like to see Khan, at the very minimum, fight Maidana. If Khan fought and beat Maidana, then he could easily get away with targeting lightweights to fight for a while without taking a lot of criticism.

I'll cosign this post. I agree with every point that was made in your post. Khan is trying to get recognition here in the states by challenging an older champion that is not even in his weight class. Don't get me wrong, I like Marquez alot and think he has alot left to be competitive in boxing but he is getting older by the second and he has been in alot of wars.
