Will Arum give King a chance to negotiate Pac vs. Floyd for Nov?

Alot of people think Floyd is scared right now.....this fight needs promoting, Floyd has lost fans...believe it or not.

This has nothing to do with not wanting to see this fight and everything to do with being realistic. The is not a big enough window to do this fight the proper way. Now I can sit and live in a fantasy world in which Arum and King agree to everything off the back with no disagreements or bullying the other around but this simply will not happen. I do think the two can work together but again this will take time as one will not let the other one up each other.

Well lets hope not. I think Arum and King are well aware fans are losing interest and patience fast. He didnt allegedly sign Floyd to this deal to play big **** with Arum.

IDC about how much these guys make or how good the PPV does. IDGAF about any of that ****. I just want to see them fight.

Again I could care less either. I never said I wanted to see all the promoting etc. but if you noticed I stated that they promoters understand that this is important to do the get the most casual fans possible to buy this event.

Again we don't care but we are the minority and the causal fans are the majority. They buy these fights and are the reason behind PPV's doing well. This is just me being realistic about things and not going off of emotions.

It was only 2 and half weeks ago that Arum's deadline ended.

Is 2 or 3 weeks of promotion going to make that big of a difference?

its early august. pac is scheduled to fight in november. that is definitive. pac vs margo is not signed yet. i have yet to see a single promotional item on pac vs margarito.

so how can you not have enough time to sign up & promote pac vs floyd but have enough time to promote & sign pac vs margarito?

if the fight can get made before the end of next week, its more than enough time to promote the fight.

nothing is happening right now. no nba, no nfl, no world cup, no tennis major, college football no nothing. its the stretch run of mlb season. the most boring time of the sports calendar.

if the announce the fight some time between now & next week, they would totally own the headlines.

You know what....I agree with you 100% which is why I'm not gonna talk about this fight until next year. I was trying to warn people to not get their hopes up etc...but I guess people like soap operas (which is what all of this really is at this point). Fight's not gonna happen anytime soon.....so everyone should just get over it.

See saying stuff like this lets me know you don't know a thing about boxing from a promotional stand point. If you really believe this...name a huge event (which did big numbers) in boxing in which there was no promoting or hyping of that particular fight.

It's not like they're fighting in a month. Mayweather-Mosley was announced on January 30th, which left for 3 months of promotion, and it did 1.4 million buys. Hell, Ali-Frazier didn't get announced until December 1969 and they fought in March of 1970. Three months of buildup.

You could argue that the first two rounds of negotiations were one long (and annoying) publicity tour. Those negotiations got more publicity than ANY boxing event since De La Hoya-Mayweather.

This isn't a fight that needs a six month promotion. This isn't the 1970s. They don't need a nationwide tour like the old days. All they need is Floyd to provide soundbites every week on SportsCenter and video footage of Manny Pacquiao heading from Congress to the boxing gym. ESPN will include any news about the fight in every edition of SportsCenter. It's going to get the cover of every sports magazine out there. Ross Greenburg already has plans of adding an extra episode of 24/7 and even extending the pre-fight episode to 1 hour.

A deal has to get done relatively quickly for 11/13. But there's plenty of time to promote and promote well.
