if this fight sells less then 2 mill ppv then it's a bust they need to get it right so 5 to 6 months promo is needed for this superfight

It would make the fight a lot easier to make, but November doesn't seem realistic unless they can make the deal in a week.

Mayweather-Pacquiao is THE fight. Arum and King could announce the fight is taking place tomorrow at 1 in the afternoon and it would get 1 million buys.

Both contract negotiations have been covered more by the mainstream press than any fight since De La Hoya-Mayweather.

Three months is more than enough time to get the ball rolling. They don't need a six month promotional tour to hype this fight up. The public is demanding it. The hype is there already.

The whole point of Arum putting Manny against his own fighters is to keep the money in house and to show Floyd Manny is willing to fight the guys he didn't want to fight back in the day.

Not enough time to do a promo tour, get a training camp in, study your opponent, etc.

I was told it takes around 6 months to promote a big fight like a DLH vs. Floyd fight. I expect them to agree to a deal early next year and have the fight around May-June.
This fight literally needs NO promotion. And trust me both camps have been studied.

He can easily make Marg vs. Cotto, Chavez Jr and make Millions.

Then he can turn around and put Marg vs. Angulo. Or Marg vs. Pac / Floyd winner.

Arums a **** but hes a smart ****. You dont pass up Floyd/Pac for Pac/Margarito.

Arum will drop Margs sorry ass out a Pac fight in a heartbeat if he thinks this can get done.

That is true. Margarito would be fighting on the undercard of a Latin Fury PPV from Mexico with the snap of Arum's fingers.

It will sell but you got to understand that promoting is about getting the most buzz for a potential fight. No fight "sells itself" and the biggest events in the history of the sport were all heavily promoted.

Hell if there was ever a fight that didn't need promoting, it was the Thrilla in Manila, as Ali had the biggest buzz a boxer has ever seen (maybe Tyson). But guess what.....they promoted that **** like crazy as those people weren't dumb enough to believe they can kick back and expect to do big numbers.

Exactly. Does the Super Bowl need 6 months of promotion? Or the World Series?

It may be hard for boxing fans to wrap their heads around, but Mayweather-Pacquiao is on that level.

This fight sells itself IMO. I don't think it needs THAT much promotion. All the failed negotiations and trash talking has been promoting the fight anyway.

Sounds like some Pac fans are a little shaken up by this news.

See saying stuff like this lets me know you don't know a thing about boxing from a promotional stand point. If you really believe this...name a huge event (which did big numbers) in boxing in which there was no promoting or hyping of that particular fight.
