    Wright vs. Mayweather a Reality?
    by Andre Courtemanche
What may have initially sounded like a crazy boxing rumor could turn out true. Unnamed sources close to the situation are reporting that promoters Bob Arum, Gary Shaw and Don King are in deep negotiations to match former undisputed junior middleweight boss Ronald “Winky” Wright and WBC Super Lightweight king “Pretty Boy” Floyd Mayweather, possibly in late October or November of this year. The fight will reportedly take place at a contracted weight of 154 lbs. Wright was last seen dominating Felix “Tito” Trinidad. In Mayweather’s last outing, he turned in a near-flawless performance in stopping former champ Arturo Gatti. More details to follow.

Winky's initial reaction was to laugh at this matchup and I'd agree with him. He's far too slick for Floyd to be able to nullify his physical advantages. Can't see this fight happening to be honest. There are fighters he could beat at 154 but Wright's not one of them.

er.... yeah, don't worry about 147 Floyd - The arrrogance of this man is beyond belief, Winky would beat him up for fun.... I think Hatton would beat him at 140 but thats only an opinion

I really don't know how everyone can discount Floyd so much. What has he done to make people doubt him? He's faster than anyone else out there, both on his feet and with his fists. He can't be caught and he lands with underrated power.

The thing is that what people don't seem to consider is that nobody wants to face Floyd right now...do you really think that he is ducking Hatton? Come on now, nobody at 140 and 147 is ****** enough to match up with him because he can embarass you. And I think he will beat Winky, god help me, though at least this is a match up where the other guy will have a chance.

I feel the same way. I truly believe that Floyd can beat Winky. Winky has never faced anyone the caliber of Floyd before.

This is a VERY risky fight for Mayweather...and that is why I like it. If he wins there will be no argument, he is the man. If he loses he might be in a little bit of trouble. He already had problems getting PPV fights (remember Gatti was his first for a reason) and with 1 loss on his record he will no longer be superman. If he goes in there and gets KTFO he loses that invincibility that Tyson lost with Buster. a VERY risky fight for Floyd.

I wasn't suggesting he was ducking Hatton - it would be a great fight, Mayweather would never have felt that pressure before, he would not have the time to get his shots off.

Back on the Winky tilt, if he put the weight on that would slow him dramatically, as the idea trhat Winky has never fought anybody in that class I refer you to Trinidad and Mosley. The job Winky did on Tito was awsome - not dramatic but just a boxing lesson.
What sould have been said is that Maywreather has never fought anybody in Winky's class!

While Winky will be the betting favorite for this fight, this will end up being a much more competitive fight than either Winky-Tito or PBF-Gatti. I guess that is not saying much.

This also has a chance of being a jabbing contest and for PBF to be running around the ring like a madman.
