Dan Rafael: "Marquez-Diaz II generated 150K to 200K PPV buys"

Exactly.
People seriously underestimate the power of hype. Just look at it this way- Mayweather-Judah did 350K buys if I'm not mistaken. That was without 24/7, without the hype Money enjoys now, and it was a very good number.
If they fought now and had the full 24/7 treatment, sponsorships, constant TV commercials, round the clock media coverage, etc that PPV would do an easy 1 million+ buys.
And Marquez is coming off a big loss, fighting a guy he KO'ed already, with no hype, no 24/7, and they pulled in c. 200K. If Marquez fought Khan and got a 24/7 and the works, he could pull in 500-700K buys.
People need to put things in perspective.Comment

If HBO juggled JMM's balls in their tonsils and gave this fight a full promotional push and a 24/7 I'd venture to say it would do about 700k buys.
Floyd ****riders always conveniently leave out the fact that HBO created a show to take the stink off dull 12 round Mayweather decisions.
Without HBO's help, he'd still be selling 300k against Zab Judah.

i guess Gabe Montoya was right
folks are blind sheep......this ppv wasnt worth no 50 bones, i dont care how anyone tries to twist it....i guess from this result, the weak ass golden girl ppv in september will do the same...
The minute we as fans stop buying these weak ppvs and the big ppvs with weak undercards, then they (the promoters) will have to listen....thats just my opinion thoComment

Watch the Failipinos get all upset because Arum expected Pac-Marquez to do 500K...and it failed.
Then Mayweather does well over a million vs Marquez.Comment
