  • compubox stats sheds some light on nard/taylor

********* has the compubox stats up... nard landed an average of 5 punches in rounds 1-8, while taylor landed and threw almost twice as many... i haven't seen the fight yet, but i think it punctuates the slow start by nard... nard would then dominate rounds 9-12... give nard rounds 9-12, plus two of the first 8 rounds, since some of them were real close, and it would be a draw at 6-6....

looking at the stats, the fight doesn't seem too exciting in rounds 1-8, also when the fight is so close its usually hard for me to call it a robbery, but i'll see this weekend..

This is what I find funny.

"Hopkins also had a 12-5 edge in connects in the pivotal 12th round, throwing 45 total punches to just 37 for Taylor. He also had Taylor holding on throughout the final three minutes. Despite that domination, Ford gave Taylor the round. Had he scored for Hopkins, the fight’s a draw and Bernard retains his undisputed title."

Olddringo, you haven't even seen the fight. Don't talk about the fight until you see it.

I have yet to see the fight, but I did read Rick's round by round coverage. Yes different people may see things different ways.....but Rick had it 115-113 and so did HBO. Why is everybody so shocked.

If a judge gave Taylor the final round and his card was still 115-113 then obviously he gave a round to Hopkins earlier that Taylor clearly won. It happens scoring isn't an exact science.

It sounds like a DLH-Trindad situation except in this case the right guy won the fight. Teaches Hopkins a lesson for being a boring fighter and not mixing it up early. Champs need to stop sitting on there belts and not proving themselves to be the better man each and everytime out.

Like many have already stated Ford was off in the 12 round but that wasnt the only round, if you want to scrutinize him for the 12 you can probably find an early round he gave to Hopkins which was wrong as well...

This fight was broken into two parts, each fighter owned a part of the fight and Hopkins fans are having a tough time excepting defeat because his part of the fight that he owned was done in more dominant fashion...

Unfortuantely he did not dominate a round in such a way where a 2 point round could be given therefore he got smashed for his very very cautious start...

Nard, even though he could have easily been given the decision has no one too blame but himself. Had he of started off faster he may have been able to KO Taylor but he smelled that right that Taylor was throwing with Bad intentions early on and he choose to play the first half of the fight totally safe.

It is going to be a very entertaining rematch where both fighters are going to have to make big adjustments, cant wait!

            Boring?

X is an examination of one's boxing technique and correctness. Nothing boring about the technical perfection of Bernard Hopkins.

ye exactly man... lots of judges do this.
if there was a close round they give it to one fighter.... and if there is a nother close round after that, they give it to another fighter to balance it out

What did you just say..."X is an examination of one's boxing and blah blah blah". Dude yes the guy is a great boxer, but he's boring as **** and has gotten by over the last several years because he fights guys with far less skills and when they are skilled they are naturally smaller dudes. He was inactive for too long Saturday....therefore he lost. Get in the ****ing ring and pound the ****ing kid outta there if your such a stud! He lost, deal with it!

Hahaha, B-Hop fights his game. He doesn't let his opponent force his will on him. I think it makes for a good fight, you think it's boring and you whine. I have a question for you. Did Jermain entertain you more in the earlier rounds then Bernard Hopkins did in the later rounds? If the answer is yes, you my friend, are a complete moron.
