The rest from being in prison probably help Kirkland. I say that because Kirkland is not a highly skilled fighter he is the type who takes a lot of punishment to try and give a lot of punishment. Those who fight in that style don't usually last very long once they start to face good to elite opponents. With the rest Kirkland just got once he gets his stamina right from some training camps and a couple of fights against tomato cans and cab drivers where he will get some rounds and take little punishment he should be ready to go. Dominate I don't know but he will be a problem the man comes to FIGHT!!!
Again...your "problems with agression" goes back to one fight a decade ago. What about Kirklands problems? They're far more numerous than Martinez's
no it doesn't. i gave you recent examples too. willams. he had problems with willams come foward style of aggression (thats all willams pretty much did in that fight) pavlik started to get to him in the middle rounds. margarito knocked him out by fighting him flat footed with lots of aggression.. why would i erase Martinez's biggest fights simply because you don't like it? the truth is the truth.
Ur on this Pirog Bandwagon huh, im gonna have to watch the Jacobs fight again coz i didnt think i seen anything special but u and a few other posters i respect seem to think he's the goods
matter fact, watch this fight. a 12 rounder (so you can get a good sense of what this guy has)
i agree with you. i see nothing special. he fights like froch with much better head & upper body movement. but less power then froch. a lot of people are saying he will run through willams and Martinez but i don't see that at all. the thing is, he is not aggressive enough to beat Martinez (you can't let Martinez think about what he's gonna do next) the only reason he was some what aggressive with jacobs was because jacobs had no power to keep him honest. i see Martinez fighting in the center of the ring countering and frustrating him, while the look of irritation hits his face Martinez will be pulling away on the scorecards. i don't think it would be such a exciting fight ether. with willams, i think if he counters willams and chooses to box he may be could win that fight. but i see willams out working him early and building up a lead on the score cards by just out throwing & hustling him. Pirog will try and close the gap later in the fight but it will be too late by then.
as far as kirkland vs pirog. i can see kirkland winning 1 of 2 ways and pirog winning 1 way. i can see pirog winning by outboxing kirkland. i don't see pirog knocking out kirkland. if he wins it will be by out boxing him. i can see kirkland winning by just coming out and blasting pirog. jumping on him from the start and not letting up. i can see pirog folding by 1 or 2 rounds if he can't take that kind of power & pressure. the other way i can see kirkland winning is by staying on him for about 8 rounds & pirog eventually folding in the 10th or 11th.
