Difference was that Curry was so much more successful as a pro....& had beaten a stream of excellent fighters.
He unified the 147 crown by KOing Milton McCrory....in one of the most devastating performances in history.

Breland had taken a somewhat easy path to the crown...& was exposed by Marlon Starling, whom Curry twice defeated.

Do you remember Breland's amateur days ?
Wow, he was something then. That was back when amateur boxing was prominently featured on network T.V.
I remember how exciting it was knowing Breland was fighting. He was that incredibly rare thing, an amateur KO artist.
I didn't really get into boxing until around the mid-80's, when I was about 10. But I've heard all about what Breland was like in the amateur's, 100+ wins and barely any losses wasn't it?

      Yeah...ONE loss.....&, I believe, 70-something KO's.
      That, is unreal.

The KO's I saw.....were all quite devastating. I saw probably 15 of them.
      His right hand was dynamite.

Roy Jones Jr. He was so good in the 90's no one even knew he didn't have a chin.
