It's when you all were finally GROWN UP, that you realized Mike Tyson is no where near the best fighter of all time.

Tyson easily, you'd have to be a ****** to suggest that the Catskills Tyson wasn't the closest thing to invincible that we've ever seen in a boxing ring.

You need to be more than just "invincible" over a VERY SHORT time period, JUYJUY, in order to be truly great.

This man failed, & disgraced himself at times, in his biggest tests.

Donald Curry, from '84 - '86, was the most awesome fighter I have ever seen, BUT.....because he was unable to sustain his excellence, I refuse to call him a great fighter.

Mark Breland and Donald Curry, weren't those two expected to overtake the likes of Henry Armstrong, Sugar Ray Robinson and Sugar Ray Leonard? I hear Breland and Curry were expected to have an awesome rivalry, Breland really was absolutely awesome in the amateurs and Curry was just the ****. Shame really.

Yes, it was looking that way.
Difference was that Curry was so much more successful as a pro....& had beaten a stream of excellent fighters.
He unified the 147 crown by KOing Milton McCrory....in one of the most devastating performances in history.

Breland had taken a somewhat easy path to the crown...& was exposed by Marlon Starling, whom Curry twice defeated.

Do you remember Breland's amateur days ?
Wow, he was something then. That was back when amateur boxing was prominently featured on network T.V.
I remember how exciting it was knowing Breland was fighting. He was that incredibly rare thing, an amateur KO artist.

Understandable shout re Mayweather, but more interested in your August predictions: I give Reid a big shout against Lacy, Robin has been on the rough end of some terrible decisions in his career perhaps most notably when he boxed circle round Sven Ottke in Germany and got robbed. Also Calzaghe fight was so close to call and he didn't get the rub. I'm a firm beliver that the guy has real quality so don't be suprised if he takes Lacy out.

I'm 38 and have been a boxing fan since 1973.

I've seen a lot of great boxers in that time but the greatest would have to be Muhammad Ali.

                      After him I would put:

                      SRL
                      Roberto Duran
                      Alexis Arguello
                      Pernell Whitaker
                      Julio Cesar Chavez
                      RJJ
                      Michael Spinks
                      Marvin Hagler
                      Thomas Hearns
                      etc.
