I doubt a SFW who fought one of the two best WWs in the world at WW would intentionally avoid a fight with anyone in his own weight class.

Now he was in the tail end of his career and desperate for some possibly final big payday , then he still had a career , health and future he and/or his management wanted to save , and he was a FW back then , not a SFW.

i think if he took the immediate rematch with pacquiao (before pacquiao improved) he could have easily beat pacquiao.
