The question you have to ask yourself, is why is your opinion in a tiny minority?

Because you're clearly jaded and trying to find an outlet to vent.
Oh I suppose Roy Jones Jr and Emanuel Steward's opinion don't count, or how about Marvin Hagler's?
All of these guys have basically said Hopkins is over-rated. And many journalists agree too.

160 has been empty for 10 years or more.
Hopkins has not beat anybody aside from blown-up little guys..
He was a fraud and grossly over-rated.
you are a moron. It's not B-hops fault that the division wasnt liek it was back then but he still beat everyone

The counter-punching version of Marvin Hagler of the late 70's would beat this Hopkins guy every single day of the week.. and twice on a Sunday. The Thomas Hearns that fought Hagler would wipe out Hopkins in one round. The Ray Leonard that fought Hagler would school Hopkins for 15 rounds. Mike McCallum would chop Hopkins down like a tree. The Michael Nunn that beat Kalambay in one round would do the same to Hopkins if he caught him with that wicked counter left hand (Kalambay had a better defence than Hopkins). Julian Jackson's right hand that layed Herol Graham out cold would do the same to Hopkins (Graham had a better defence than Hopkins). James Toney at his counter-punching best beats Hopkins atleast 9 times out of 10.

Hopkins should not be considered an American great.
I have to agree with this comment...

Boxing was probably more pure back in those times... probably more technical and it was a skilled artform... I mean handspeed and power of these middleweights were devistating... Now-a-days I think the other prominent sports take away all the good athletes...

i.e. imagine if Shaq ran 15 miles 3 times a day... did 2000 situps... and put on some gloves... he coulda be "Most Dominant Ever" hahaha

but yeah comparing Hopkins and his "victums" to Middleweights of the 70's.. is like comparing Michael Jordan to Tony Parker...

It is very rare for me to comment on something like this, but this has to be one of the most biased posts I have ever read on these boards. The post is so bad that is destroys any credibility in your posts towards Benn or Eubanks. Only beat up blown up guys? Several of his big wins were over opponents that moved up to higher weights. Including Glen Johnson, Syd Vanderpool and Antwon Echols. Robert Allen is a very dangerous middlweight, so was Eastman. I'm no Hopkins fan, but the guy is easily one of top 5 greatest middleweights of all-time. Only Greb, Robinson, Monzon and Hagler rank above him.

I have no idea why you're so full of hate and are pushing this so hard.

It couldn't be anymore obvious that you have an agenda here.

Roy Jones and Emanual Steward both said Hopkins is an all time great TONIGHT on the brodcast.

Steward specificly said Bernard is a TOP TEN ALL TIME MIDDLEWEIGHT.

But neither of them, or anybody with a grain of sense, would mention Hopkins in the same breath as Sugar Ray Robinson or Marvellous Marvin Hagler. That's what gullable kids have been doing and it pisses me off that they lack so much knowledge.

When those guys are in the top 1 - 4 of ALL TIME,

and Hopkins is in the 4-10 of ALL TIME,

there's nothing wrong with mentioning them in the same sentence,

IT'S THE SAME TOP TEN LIST of the GREATEST MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPIONS in HISTORY.

You have NO IDEA how pathetic and transparent you come off as.
