stopped reading there.Really, he is. Pernell didn't have offense like Manny. Pernell just relied on running away while punching. Marvin wasn't incredibly skilled either, he relied on great conditioning and endurance.
I've never seen a fighter use the southpaw stance like Manny does. The way he uses it to set up his power shots, how he throws "crossover punches" as if he was playing basketball, and he has a great right hand now.
He's the most well-versed southpaw of all time.Comment

Dude, just no.
Go watch some Whitaker fights. He had immensely better defense obviously, but he obviously was good at boxing and counter punching, he was damn good to the body, as he outfought Chavez to the body when they fought, he could knock you out when he had to as he did to Hurtado, the guy was the complete package.
Whitaker was unquestionably more skilled than Pacquiao, not even close.Comment

What's the point in trying to debate with the pinoy's that have never seen a prime Pernell fight?
They only thing they can think of is an out of prime Pernell.
Pacquiao skillwise compared to Pernell? Laughable.
Only thing Pac had over Pernell was power.Comment

Did you really just use Pernell's 2nd to last fight against a decent WW to try and make him look bad ?.
Edit: Nevermind, just seen who posted it, wouldn't of expected less from you to take a Whitakers 2nd to last fight loss just to try and make Pac look good.Last edited by NChristo; 07-30-2010, 06:15 AM.Comment
