I agree...the buildup has peaked and the deflation period is kicking in...it will be a big fight if it happens but not to the potential of what it could have been if it was signed now.
Mayweather Vs. Pacquiao Will No Longer Be The Mega Event It Could Have Been

True. But this can still be huge because:
1. Floyd will be going ****ING CRAZY during the promotion. he may say some really of the wall stuff which shouldattract more people.
2. There will actually be a world wide press tour which will be beneficial.
3. Manny has more time to develop his english and his public speaking skills while in Congress, that should help during promotion.
4. Nike and Reebok will be involved probably.
5. I agree, the "boxing" value is diminished but the "entertainment" value will be increased considering both guys have really crossed over in their respective countries/
6. The date- I saw a post about holding it on the 40th ann of ali frazier. even though that is a Tuesday. Could help.Comment

Somebody with some sense. To top it off everybody is going to watch to see if PAC whips Floyd azz for the simple fact he made them wait long for this fight. They are going say "he beat the **** out of that big dude. He is going to knock Floyd the f-ck out.True. But this can still be huge because:

Yeah that is a great point. I mean EVERY ****ING hater in the USA will buy this fight hoping Manny kills floyd. The money from the "casual fans that dont like boxing but hate this loudmouth arrogant black MF they see on HBO" will be staggering.
I estimate this group is good for 50k-100k ppvs when floyd fights. In this fight it should be 200k or so once they see floyd on Rome, PTI, Sportcenter talking crazy ****!!
Imagine what he will say during Super Bowl media week!Comment

Depends on how Manny looks against Margarito. If he destroys Antonio Margarito it may stay up there, but if Margaritos size bothers him and he makes him look anything less than sensational the fight loses spark.Comment

I think you're right. The public's losing interest and even people who are more than casual fans are losing interest. Sure, if the fight happens next year it'll be big, but not as big as it could have been. Manny's always wanted this fight, so we only have Floyd to blame on this one. After agreeing to everything that was laid out, Manny was ready. Instead, Floyd left us all hanging.

Please. Margarito ain't comin' to fight. Arum won't allow that. Easy few million bucks for Marg here. No way he beats Manny Pacquiao. First of all, he can't even if he wanted to. Secondly, Bobby boy ain't gonna' allow that. It'd be a HELLUVA' upset if it did happen though!Comment

I agree with the bold. Boxing fans will always grasp ahold to the notion of the fight happening, but the intrigue is slowly losing it's luster with the casuals (who are the ones who buy PPVs). With the NFL around the corner and the NBA soon following, people will have a lot more to focus on (especially with how the NBA season is gonna be this year). The fight was already built up the most it could be. Now all this teasing, all this drama, all this bull**** has pretty much deflated the anticipation and desire for this fight to happen. I definitely don't think it will break the DLH/Mayweather PPV record anymore. Casual fans are losing interest at this point. There is no more, "they're trying to build it up for next year". This **** already peaked.
Both Pac and May missed the boat on this one.Comment
