Is that sarcastic? P.R. has 5 current champions and 63 all-time. It's also the only country to have champions accredited in every current weight class and has the highest number of champions per capita in the world, all time.

Even if Cotto were to lose I think the island is going to be just fine now and in the future.

How about you, you know, look up the facts before you write. ; ) It'll be good for you believe me.

Vanes will surprise some people if this goes down. Hes young and hungry and has been after a big fight for awhile now.

I know Vanes hasn't had the best performance in his last two fights, but for crying out loud give the guy some ****ing credit for having the balls and courage to fight literally ANYONE, whether it's calling out guys like p williams and sergio martinez or coming out and accepting a fight with Cotto or Dzinziruk within 24 hours. When was the last time you saw a fighter make a public statement accepting such tough fights in such short notice without talking to their ****ing advisors to see if it's in their "best interest", or taking to their managers to see what the "pay" would be like, or talking to their promotors to discuss the "politics" involved. No, Vanes doesn't give a **** about any of this, he simply wants to Fight the Best and that's what boxing should be all about! Sick of watching guys duck one another for bull **** reasons.

As for Vanes' chances against Cotto, I will definitely be a tough task especially with Emanual Steward now in his corner, however, I think given such an opportunity to shine, we will see a Vanes like never before. Recently Vanes hasn't even been 70% of what he's capable of, just take a few minutes to watch a few of his fights before Ouma. That explosive power, long reach & height advantage, combined with Freddy's presence in the corner, it sure will be a long night for Cotto!

        Vanes pulls an Upset.

          hell yeahh... same here....

finally someone talkin real sense and not ridin the Cotto bandwagon man.

you all need to actually watch some of Vanes' fights before you talk smack here man...

he damn well deserves a fight against the best in the world because he has put in his dues since 2005 now... and give the undefeated kid some credit for havin the balls to call out ANYONE in the division.

Ive been following Vanes since since his amatuer days. He actually beat some names while he was an amatuer (Berto and Bradley to name a couple). He was a 2004 USA olympian. Hes been with Freddie for a LONG time (was with Ronnie Shields for a lil bit). I honestly would not be suprsied if he did pull off the upset but then again like Freddie says "he can get wild in there". Cottos timing is on point and has always been.

Cotto is an EXPERIENCED 3 Time 3 weight class division Champion. I think Foreman was a good fight for him to come back too. Hes a 2000 PR olympian and is a world class fighter. Yes he has had some rough fights these past few years. But no matter what he always did the best he could, win or lose.

With Manny Steward in Cottos corner. I give Cotto the slight edge based on experience and knowledge and a great trainer behind him.

Now that I think about it, I dont think Freddie Roach has ever been opposite team of Manny Steward before. That would also be interesting to see which corner would pull off the win...Vanes w/Freddie .. or.. Cotto w/Steward..

I give Cotto the edge.. but would not be surprised if Vanes pulled the upset.

very constructive and smart analysis my friend...

no doubt Cotto is the bigger name and has more experience here... but to count out a 28-0 veryyyy hungry kid that has been with Freddie since 2005 only someone with zero boxing knowledge would do.

When Cotto beat Foreman, Foreman had a bum leg and no punch. Vanes is not that guy. If Cotto wins, he'll sweat blood doing it. I'm going with Vanes on this one, he's a big Jr. middle with damn good footwork and decent power.

I keep watching fights of vanes and just cannot see him beating cotto. He'll get his rounds but cotto will zap that body within 8. Sorry, cannot see it.

man i wish Bob Arum and HBO can make this fight happen.

easy solid main-event for HBO Championship Boxing... great turnout in Las Vegas from the Armenians.
