I dont know man, dont get me wrong, i love cotto, hes a ****ing warrior but i just hate it when they put nobodies in with someone whos past his best and may lose. Why didnt roach go for cotto-vanes before pacquiao-cotto? I think u best know the answer...btw i wouldnt say cotto is past prime but he sure as hell isnt his bestGuess what RAMBO? COTTO isn't washed up at all. He just needed a BOSS so to speak. He needed someone to take control of his camp and take the control away from him. With just one fight together, you can already see the improvement with his balance and defense. Do you agree? STEWARD always wanted to work with him and called him before the PACQUIAO fight but COTTO turned him down. VANES is a good solid fighter but let's not forget who COTTO still is. He is still hungry and I think a rematch with PACQUIAO will prove that. COTTO is the more skilled fighter but he lacked a corner in that fight and the catch weight didn't help him. With STEWARD in his corner, he can beat just about anyone at 147/154. Let's remember, he is STILL in his prime and a very serious and prideful fighter.Comment

Vanes has mental lapses after the third round, don't think he is dicisplined enough to carry out a fight plan. If he also exchanges as he does at times he going to get laid out. He is not that big of a puncher and has been hurt before by light punchersComment

i would call a fighter's "prime" that point at which his physical prowess and mental ability, for lack of a better word, meet at the highest point, just before the physical starts to slip.I dont know man, dont get me wrong, i love cotto, hes a ****ing warrior but i just hate it when they put nobodies in with someone whos past his best and may lose. that said, miguel cotto is no longer in his prime. any fighter will tell you that "wars", those fights were fighters receive terrible punishment, win or lose, takes a toll on the body. miguel cotto started to be in too many back and forth battles to where i could see many of his future fights turning into one-way beatings against him if he takes on the highest level of competition.
i don't know why his fans would want to see him in there with youthful, heavy punchers at 154. being in a weight class heavier than your best is sometime just as bad as being in a weight class lighter than your best. 147 was perfect for him. he was clearly no less than the third best fighter, based on past achievement, with margarito suspended and moving up to 154 himself.
i fear that going to deep into the water at 154 will be the end of miguel cotto's career. i don't want people to "mark my words" but i don't see it ending well.Comment

cotto a warrior? didn't he like run around the ring against pacquiao? a warrior doesn't do that,a warrior will try to win,to ko,not run and be on survival mode which is what he did, funny just because he lasted until the 12th doesn't make him a warrior,if he tried and threw punches ok,but he only tried to survive without trying anymore to win, don't call running around the ring being a warriorI dont know man, dont get me wrong, i love cotto, hes a ****ing warrior but i just hate it when they put nobodies in with someone whos past his best and may lose. i wouldn't say cotto isn't in his prime,i would just say he cant beat guys who are stong, who punch back, thats it,he can beat guys with no punch like foreman, gomez, etc, but strong guys who take his punch well and throw back is where he has troublei would call a fighter's "prime" that point at which his physical prowess and mental ability, for lack of a better word, meet at the highest point, just before the physical starts to slip.
