Cotto and Mayweather can fight 100 fights in a row. "IMO" in out of those 100 fights between Him and Mayweather..

He would not win 1 fight. He just isnt built to win against a fighter like Mayweather.

The fight doesnt interest me. Knowing what I know about Cotto.

The only way this fight is acceptable is if Cotto somehows knocks out Margarito, and Pacquiao within 5 rounds in back to back fights..
and he wins the rematches... then I can Justify to myself this fight is credible. because obviously at that point cotto change something drastically in his fighting style. Because as of right now, he doesnt have the ability to do what is required for him to be a credible opponent in my eyes,

Cotto vs Mayweather makes no sense right now, but let's not front like people wouldn't buy this fight. Both got big fan bases and are #1 and #3 draws in the sport, and they've never fought. I've always stood by the notion that these guys will eventually fight in the twilight of their careers, just not now.

I predicted Margarito over Cotto also and I thought both of them ****** anyways. It was clear as day. It wasn't no 50-50 for me coming in. It was more like 70-30 in favor of Margarito. Pac-Cotto was 95-5...Mayweather-Cotto would be 100-0. No chance.

Cotto is a dead man walking when talking about a potential fight with Floyd Mayweather.. Seriously, I am really oppose to this fight. There is no argument I will accept or want to hear as to why this fight should happen.

My answer is "NO"

I have been reading a few articles and a few threads trying to hype this bout up...and I genuinely feel and think this match up to be completely absurd..!

No Real Mayweather fan "IMO" should want this fight.
With Mayweather fighting in his last days of his career, I do not want to see him fight the likes of Miguel Cotto when he should be focusing on trying to make a Manny Pacquiao fight happen.
The only top rank fighter I want to see Mayweather fight is Manny Pacquiao.. the rest of those guys is worthless when talking about a potential match-up with Mayweather,

FIGHT Manny Pacquiao or Leave Top Rank alone is my belief, there is no other reason to deal with Bob Arum unless it has to do with Pacquiao.

What a surprise, could it be because you and the rest of the Mayweather fans have been going around discrediting Pac's win over him and that if Mayweather beats him you want be able to rep the win because of how you have chastised Manny's win over him? or, is it because you know that Mayweather needs to eradicate all the ducking he has been doing, and that beating a guy in a one off fight who has earned his stripes fighting the best is the best way to do that?

C'mon silly ***** its not as if Floyd's offense is so amazingly impressive and his workrate will swamp Miguel into submission.

Floyd will probably win but drop a few close rounds in a boring chess match. I remember everyone talking about how Cotto wouldn't be able to deal with Yuri's speed and mobility yet in the fight he was with him every step of the way out boxing Yuri.

BTW I agree this, the match up sucks. Floyd would wipe the floor and then some, with Cotto. And Floyd is not even known as wiping the floor with opponents anymore. But ****-defense Cotto would be target practice for Floyd. A guy who conveniently stopped going to the body once his opposition got better(Margarito, Pacquiao, Clottey) because his defense is too **** to get close enough to go to the body successful. And you're gonna get close enough to Floyd without getting hit with left hooks and rights all day?

Cotto never had a chance against Mayweather. Prime, peak, damaged, shot, it doesn't matter which version. I was never interested in this match up. Especially after what Judah did to Cotto's face even in his losing effort and more than 400 days away from the ring due to a suspension from the Mayweather low blow thing.

cotto doesnt have **** defense. he's actually a good counter puncher and he showed that w/ mosley. even in the margarito fight he was well ahead in the first half. judah lost steam late also.

his problem is with volume punchers. late in the fight, his defense gets tired and he gets hittable. w/ tony, it started to happen rd7. w/ pac coming in all angles and much faster, it happened much earlier in rd2.

w/ floyd, he'd be able to hang till 12 coz he's not forced to fight every minute. floyd wont beat him up but he'd surely win a UD.

it wouldn't be THAT terrible. I can somewhat see the logic in fighting/beating cotto if floyd and pac are to fight next year.

I guess I'd rather have floyd fight cotto than not fight at all for another year or more.

He also wants to make the most money he can before he leaves, and there's nobody out there who'll be a match or draw to him. Khan, Bradley, Alexander, Martinez, Williams have nothing on Cotto's drawing power. You can make the case for Khan fighting Floyd in England, but let's see if he even comes out of the 140s alive. Plus, Floyd's never been one to take big risks, and I don't see him fighting a prime WW or JMW in the latter yrs of his career. He won't play the Chavez Sr or Oscar role for anyone.
